Very interesting that the exhaust manifolds are not painted. Typical understanding is they were installed before engine was painted.

Troy, I'm confused. What point of reference should I use. You did not post a picture or identify a post in this thread with a picture.

Be sure to consider buying the Restorer DVD (cheap ad)... lotz of great photos and articles for you to explore.

Interesting, and somewhat surprising to me, that women worked on the line in that time. I wonder if the AAW kept records indicating gender of its members.

It's a bit cumbersome for some folks to search and create links so I'll volunteer..... Extremely bored lately...

Skip over the green text if you don't want link learning stuff....

I found it by doing a search in this thread("Search Thread"..."Advanced Search" in the gray banner, upper right) . Single Content Type. Entered Mike Browning (24893) in the User Name field. Note as you type the name it will auto-find it in a drop down bar. It gave me Mikes posts in this thread. I found the Dec 3, 2017 post with Mike's photo of the red convertible Troy mentioned.

To create a link, right click the post "#17" identifier in the upper right black banner of the post. This is a link identifier for the post. Each post has a #xxx which designates the post number. Left click "Copy Link Address" (or facsimile in your Browser).

In your Reply, use the "Create Link"(the blue globe with the eyeglasses) icon in the upper banner of the Reply Thread editor.... paste the Link Address you copied in the appropriate drop down field. It will enter the link into your reply.

This is the link to post(#17)....

Here's the picture in that post. Note I just did a copy/paste of the image from there to here to save you some clicks.

Now I see what Troy is referencing. The exhaust manifold isn't heavily covered in orange paint. Maybe a little overspray that's all.

But what I never noticed in that photo before is the alternator hanging by something next to that manifold. It appears the factory didn't mount it(alternator) until body drop. Seems to make sense to clear the inner skirt and fan shroud.
Edit..... Actually, I don't think it's the alternator. Is it the Master Cylinder?

                  Rich
PS I believe it's a '65(with BU lamp option). Note the HL engine RPO, only in '65.(not 64 or 66)
Edit again.... Duhhhh. Can't be a '64, both in the photo have disc brakes. And the red car with backup lamps already has a chassis under it, so the chassis with the HL engine is destined for a different body. Maybe a convertible as I think I see the extra body mount on the chassis.

Rich, I see a standard brakes master cylinder just above the steering box. I don't think I can see an alternator.

Yes Dan I saw that as you were typing and while I edited my post. The alternator is on the Pass side on a '65? I forget.

Edit.... Yes Pass side on a 65.

Speaking of over spray, I'm curious of the equipment used. The fan pattern must have been very tight throughout the years to spray so closely to aluminum intakes, bell housings, and BB bypass hoses with such a small overlap onto those parts. Look at this photo of the bell housing there's just a ghosting of orange on the perimeter but pretty full coverage on the block.

I'm also curious why the blackout on the exhaust wasn't just sprayed to the end of the pipe instead of stopping 4" below the connection.

Goes with the backup lights in the Comfort and Convenience option.

Oops, of course. My bad, thought it was a 66. Guess I should pay more attention
