Paul Mertens in Iowa. Paul is now 82, and owned a much customized 1958 Corvette around 1968. Paul gave me a significant ride in this car, and that had a lot to do with my love for Corvettes. Even then, I wished it had the original nose and trunk irons. We have no idea where this car is today, but Paul and I are still around.

Thanks for sharing that Tom, very evocative of the era, Paul is indeed properly attired for Sunday afternoon car photos...
I think the Vette sports a Plasticon top and the side-view of that frontend looks quite familiar too, unfortunately the necessary synapse isn't firing at the moment so the name of it's manufacturer escapes me for now!

I still have the Acme catalog. They sold Americans also! Wish I had an original set! Remember the C&D (I think or Car Life) with the 700 on the cover taken in Maine I think at a Route 66 filming? I have that mag somewhere in spite of my wife wanting me to get rid of "that old stuff". 😊

Here is the "across the street" view of a show at Delaware Motors, North side of Buffalo, NY. The gold C3 without hubcaps might be the "new version" owned by Ken K. This was from 1974.

I'm not sure if anyone posted this, but I watched an old episode of "Leave it to Beaver" where Wally and Eddy joined a social club. This is from Season 5, Episode 34, "One of the Boys" (1962). Apparently, the other guys were from wealthy families as evident of their cars. Must have been nice to drive a Corvette to high school.

I watched this one again yesterday. June wasn't sure she liked Wally associating with those boys and their fancy racing cars---c'mon June!
