Uh-oh.....sounds like you have an opening for a newly created position for a parking lot attendant.

Gary, I have seriously considered being a part of the Texas Chapter team for the yearly Regional events. It's not like I'm a stranger at these events. The problem is that I like looking longingly at all the Corvettes and talking to owners and attendees. And I wouldn't want to miss seminars conducted by people like Terry McManmon and others. I just learned this year about those classes.

I have enough status with Hilton Honors to get free wi-fri in the room, so that was not an issue for me at this venue, but it has been a vary sore point for me and others at other NCRS events.

I will share with y'all what one Hilton employee told me -- the group can negotiate free parking and wi-fi for their attendees if the event fills enough rooms at the host hotel. Based on the coffee cups I saw in the morning I know a number of folks stayed in the hotel across the street.

If those of us staying for the meet at ES were able to park in the parking lot for free there would have been more free spaces available for day trippers.

Maybe the parking issue can be tweaked by next year. Based on these comments, it sounds like almost everyone attending had a great time.

As mentioned, this was my first regional, and I thought it was beyond great.
Today I logged onto my technical disccusion board profile page and noticed that I have been credited with one judging point for attending the midyear fan clutch seminar.
I now have my first point.

So, ......... now it's time for me to order my "Master Judge" black cap. Can anyone tell me where I might order one........?

I find that most convention centers use wi-fi charges as another source of revenue. I have been in Hilton, Sheraton, and Embassy Suite centers this year and had to pay a charge for Internet connection. I have started using my Droid X and a wireless card for service now. To heck with those charges

Terry, that was an employee's opinion and not management's position. Free parking and WiFi were non-negotiable. Gary....

Well it sounded like a potential solution to the only negatives I heard. On a personal level I had no problem finding a solution to each of those issues.

All in all you guys did a great job, and those of us who found the shortcuts had a great time. I think the Chassis judges should have liked the judging surface a lot and everyone seemed to enjoy the daily "managers reception" and the great breakfast and spiffy hats. Thanks for all your hard work.

Thanks to the chocolate cake my blood sugar didn't come down until Sunday afternoon.

                Terry,

That doesn't mean those items won't be pursued for 2012. Was glad the entire floor didn't have to be covered. Wrapping the entire floor cost $4k for the Regional in Killeen and was a heck of a job to put down and take up.

Hopefully we can keep the trailer parking in the Dr Pepper stadium lot. Maybe that can be expanded next year with a section for NCRS members visiting. (Just leave room for the trailer loading/unloading). There was a $10 lunch special in the little cafe inside that included a big sandwich/wrap, chips, and drink. Had that each day and it was good. The food at the reception was great as well. We had some big eaters. The banquet meal brought back great memories for me because the prime steak loin was was what we had at my daughter's wedding reception (Embassy Suites-Austin about seven years ago). My vote is to have the same meal next year.
