There is no question that the Texas Chapter 2011 Regional NCRS event was a huge success. However, I have some comments and questions regarding parking as a spectator. On Friday I could not find a parking place outside of the hotel/convention center complex. Many people like myself drove around like vultures waiting for someone to vacate a parking space. None did. Parking at the hotel says "First 30 minutes free" and then I read something like $6 for some other time period and I didn't read the rest as $6 to park was already too high for me. I ended up parking two blocks to the west FREE at the sports complex. Saturday morning I got there a whole lot earlier and found one space available. When I went back to my vehicle I again saw the vultures circling the parking lot. I have no idea where or how the other hundreds of people parked. At Waco it was free parking.
Will this parking dilemma be a similar issue at the upcoming Frisco NCRS events?

I always love going to the TX Regional. Good folks and good cars. I really like the Frisco venue and hope the TX Regional stays there.

Scott, the parking is just one of those things that come along with holding the regional at a ES with a parking garage. Being in Frisco the value of land is quite high I reason for no open parking lot. We might have to put in some advertising next year as to when the public can find free parking. Where you parked is about the best bet I suppose. We had the largest public attendance we have ever had at a Texas regional here at Frisco though. Plans are now in the works to make next year's even better. Ken

Ken, I wholly agree that the venue and attendance was great in Frisco. It attracted a lot of the local Corvette folks that otherwise wouldn't drive to Waco. I noticed that to the south of the hotel there was construction going on and was hoping that would help expand parking for the general public. It's hard to imagine a sports complex, a convention center, and a hotel having that few public parking spaces around the perimeter.

The only eating establishments nearby were across a wide street to the east where there was a shopping center. Best to drive there instead of walking. Otherwise it's having a pricey lunch at the hotel. Or brown bag it. Even though I didn't have the luxury of steak and chocolate cake I did have some some yummy fig newtons I brought. The hotel was selling $2 per each cookie and bags of chips.

The suggestion to advertise where public parking is (and isn't) is a good one. Include the nearest places to eat in relation to the hotel and convention center. Thanks.

Some characteristics of any NCRS event come with the venue. In this case free parking was at a premium. Within a mile of the ES found numerous types resturants....sit down or fast food (In and Out ). I don't see finding affordable dining an issue, plenty there. Parking on the other was $6.00 in the garage or walk 2 blocks. Although I'm as frugle (tight) as they come.....doesn't seem like an over the top amount to pay. We're in an expensive hobby and $6.00 seems to pale in comparsion. Everyone would like free parking.......now me on the other hand would've like to have had free wi-fi in my room.

This is a first event at the ES, I'm sure the Texas chapter will take a look make adjustments that will make for a better show next year. Thanks.
