Nope, not the 40's. I remember "no name" stations selling gas at 16.9 in 1968. Sunoco "260 Blue" was "alot" more money, all in the good old days, later 60's and early 70's of High Performance and Fun.

At that price for gas it should have been Standard Oil Company, Amoco came along int he late 70's or early 80's. We'll have to see what's there the Dream Cruise is Saturday.

              Dick------

Adjusted for inflation, gasoline which cost $0.35/gallon in 1960 would cost $2.56/gallon today. Gasoline here in California is more expensive than in just about any other part of the country (except Hawaii). However, when I was recently in New England I was buying gas for about $2.75/gallon. So, it's not much different now than it was in 1960. In due time, probably sooner than later, that will change.

You be right Ronald. I had another good friend that had a Standard station right down town Detroit, about 1 block from the GM building. He was another local boy that moved North to make his fortune..

Yeah, I remember filling my brand new "67 Chevelle convertible (327) with Sunoco 260. It was mixed right at the pump. You could dial it back to 250 or 240 etc. for a few cents less, but I made $122 a week so ther was never any reason to scrimp on anything! What happened to those days?

Here is a graph of gas prices from Jan 1969 to Oct 2008. It shows the high and low prices paid in a given month. The 1973 oil embargo barely shows on this, but the prices weren't corrected for inflation.

Hey Tom, I think I saw your car, parked on the east side? I had a diode blow - short out at 12 mile - fun that was not...

Lately, things have been moving. The right houses are actually selling for more than their asking prices. Hopefully this is the beginning of a turn-around.
Unfortunately, I don't think the Duntov's house will sell very soon. It needs work.

                            VERY interesting.
Robert, can you please send me that graph as an .exl-sheet, maybe?

                              George,
Moving is relative - you must mean the for sale signs wavering in the strong winds last week, houses on this street have the same for sale signs as they did a year ago. Hey - you're not a surveyor by any chance are you?

Yeah. They need to lose the "silo" and the "gas chamber" out front.
