Totally understand, Marc. Enjoy that 454. Don't you love how the whole car torques sideways when you rev it?! I can't get enough of that.

You, on the other hand being that it's your first time, will be overwhelmed by everything that's going on at what appears to be a very mysterious process. Remember that learning how the judging system works and is applied consistently from car to car, team to team and meet to meet is just as important as technical knowledge of the cars.

Never forget that if you're not having fun, you're not doing it right.

I'll introduce you to my SWMBO who will very quickly tell you different. I'm glad to see that things have worked out so well for you regarding your car. If during your OJ'ing you meet a judge that goes by 'Piper' or 'Busdriver' give him my regards and tell him that his buds at VH miss him.

Actually this is something I would like to know. What is proper attire for an OJ? How about when attending a seminar? There is also a reception. What is appropriate here?

Anything that covers your bod, or mostly covers your bod, is fine. No one will give a rats putotti what you wear -- unless you show up neked. If you do that you will have to buy the first round or two at the Blue Max -- or whatever the name of that dive Ralph Cramdon hangs out in.

If you plan to OJ with the chassis folks long pants might be wise to protect your knees and legs from the ground, but if you are used to rolling around on asphalt don't even worry about that.

                      Judging team for the car!

Okay. I searched for some pictures. Take a look at the pics. Do I have this right? The guy with the the black hat with the clipboard is THE judge. The gentleman looking over his shoulder with the jeans and shiny watch would be the Observer Judge. Then you have the guy at the front of the car TOUCHING it. Perhaps doing some last second polishing. This is the OWNER of the car. Then you have the big guy in the back with tan cap looking around. Perhaps another Observer Judge looking around? Then there is the guy facing the pace car. Would that be Mr. Shorts?

Marc...The guy holding the clipboard is Dick Capello, regional director from the Northeast...and probably judging the car...the guy next to him might be the owner of the car and Dick is reviewing the score sheet for the section he judged...or it could be his judging partner going over some fine points on one of the items on the judging sheet...the two guys in the back probably have nothing to do with that car...and the guy with the shorts is NOT Mr. Shorts...other guy in front of car touching it might be a judge on a different section of the car and you can see a leg next to him that might be his judging partner...Dick's partner might have moved on to their next car and is setting up shop near it...

This is all observation and speculation...but don't worry about it all...just come down and have fun...

Marc Check out photo #2 in reply #3 judge to the far right that is Mr. Shorts of this posting https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthre...-Shifter-Knobs. If you are doing Chassis OJ be careful when on the ground he will step on you and do not I repeat do not look up. Do not ask how I know this. Also the judge in the first photo and the to the far left in the second is a Bus driver (Ralph) he will also step on you. Both are very DANGER'S so be very careful around ether on the judging field.

Also be careful if attending the Advanced Judging Seminar of the bearded one he is also danger's no photo necessary you will know him on sight.

The guy with the jeans on the passenger side of the car IS the owner. I know him and his son well. They have a wonderful car. The guy with the clipboard IS Dick Capello going over the sheets with the owner....ARA

The guy with the black hat is a known trouble maker. Goes by the name of 'Dick'. We all know what that really means. He's looking over a list of local hot spots for after-hours entertainment.

Seriously, it could be anyone of a dozen scenarios. Dick might be reviewing the scoring sheets with his co-judge, or with the owner. Whoever is touching the fender shouldn't be- unless it's his car.

                                That's not Mr. Shorts.
