Re: 2013 NCRS Road Tours preview

Sandy and I did the 1997 RT from south Georgia (with the SE group) to Lake Placid in my 56 and had a ball (4 days on the road). We plan to do the New England tour with my 62 FI. The only issue I see is fuel. I now run 100LL (avgas) and the FI does not like ethenol. I am hoping we go by stations that sell non-ethanol. Watkins Glen may have their race gas pumps open so that would help. Hope Mark takes this into account.

Oh! When I hear stuff like that I always start rethinking my bucket list item of an FI Corvette, maybe I should just forget that......

The specific details regarding hotels is provided after the member registers for the road tour. Each Road Tour leader has blocked rooms to be used for the benefit of the registered participants.

Couple of dumb questions. What would the percentage be of C2 and C3 cars on any given Road Tour? How do you contact a RT leader (southeast)?

.....Yes I admit driving an older car great distances is cause for anxiety. I was thinking if accompanied by other elderly cars (to pace with) it might be interesting. Thoughts?

Generally cars of the same vintage tend to hand together. Largely due to the common need for fuel at common intervals.

To contact the tour leaders try the contacts section under the button labeled COMMUNITY at the top of the page. Most are registered members of the tech board and can be contacted through their profile page.

Charles, Thank you for your interest in joining a 2013 RT to Hampton, VA. We will not know the answer to your question until the RT registrations are made. The Southeast RT led by Ron and Laureen Ramsey usually has some C-1 and C-2 Corvettes. There was a 1962 and a 1963 that traveled from Florida to San Diego.
I would suggest that contact the Ramsey's after you receive the Jan-Feb. Driveline. You could email us at scott1956@rogers.com in March.

We have a recent change in the Mid-West RT led by Dana Forrester. The new overnight stops are,

                            July 17: Terre Haute, Indiana

                            July 18: Washington, PA

                            July 19 Shippensburg, PA

We have been on many of Dana's Tours. These Tours are very interesting.

                                Hi All
I have been on a few NCRS Road Tours A few thoughts after reading the above posts.

                                1. Get you car prepared. Service your car WELL in advance of your departure. That way if you find a problem
you can handle it with a lot less stress. Remember to check or change the following. Tires, Belts, Hoses,
Batteries, Coolant, Motor Oil,Gear Oils,Filters,Plugs, Wires, and so on. Remember age is a factor on many
                                parts much more then miles.

                                2. Pack Tools you need based on your car. A new C6 will not likely need a lot of tools except a GPS and a
Credit card. All cars can use some basic tools. Many of the big box stores sell kits of your basic wrenches
screw drivers, sockets and pliers. These may not be good for everyday but will help on the side of the road.

                                3. If you travel with a group from your home area you can share tool resources.

                                4. Another thought Ship Clothes for the Convention to your hotel. That way you will have less to pack
in everyday and if you want to put the top down you have more room.

                                5. Have a list of Phone numbers and Hotel address handy in case you get separated.

                                6. A hand held GPS is a big help also.
