What? You didn't see the back page of the last Restorer? The Pacific Coast Highway is the bomb. then there were the two trips touring Milford Proving Grounds.

But the Tail of the Dragon is enticing.

Be very alert on the Tail of the Dragon. It is heavily patrolled by the constabilaries. A very high accident rate in that area. Crouch rockets ride the center lines, laying their bikes way down, exposing their heads to oncoming traffic. Also some GPS mapping software will route semi trucks thru there. If you meet one in a curve, woe is you. They take both sides of the road including the shoulders

What is the location (City) of the Backyard Cookout, and is this location the departure point for Wednesday July 17, or is Wednesday's departure point different? I plugged "Morehead City" into my map program, but would like a more accurate departure point for my, at this juncture, "what-if" dreaming.
Dave, Go for it. Live your dreams. The PCH was on my bucket list last year and I did it in spite of some pretty large obstacles. Zoe is looking at the Outer Banks real hard. I keep telling her the Tail of the Dragon is worth the trip, but she says "We have been to North Carolina before." My response that "This is different" isn't working, but then she is probably thinking of the PCH and saying to herself: "Do I want to do that again?"
It might be worth contacting Jimmie Gregg for the info you want. I think he is registered here on the TDB.

Dave, I asked Jimmy Gregg the same question last night when I was preparing his agenda for our chapter newsletter. The group is meeting in Raleigh on July 16 for the cookout and departs for the coast the next morning.

I agree with Terry. These road tours are loads of fun.

The year that we led the Southeast leg to Collinsville, IL, Dick followed the group with a trailer and tool box inside. Someone had a problem every day and it was repaired in the parking lot that evening. Just part of the camaraderie.

I used to bring up the rear of the Road Tours with the orange Suburban with the tools, spare parts and beverages. And that was when C4s were the new cars.

Edit add: And that was when NCRS didn't have an alcohol policy. But best not to get into that. That was then and this is now.
