Michael, Thank you for the excellent points. The number one Road Tour rule is, "We leave no car/member behind" We registered 21 Corvettes on opening day!

We would like to thank all of the 38 members that registered early for the 2013 Road Tour.. A big thank you goes out to Eric Mortimer, Dick Capello and Marilyn Heitzman for all their support in promoting the 2013 National Road Tour. Whether you have a C1 or C6 it is time to get out and drive your Corvette. We have registered a 1963 that will drive over 3,700 miles to Hampton and have the Corvette judged.

This goes to show you that a driven car can be judged. Almost 25 years ago, there was a '69 driven from Los Angeles to the Convention in Williamsburg VA and was awarded a Duntov. Remember the award is based on raw points, no mileage points.

If it's too long, she could always fly while you drive, not all wives like long rides in old cars.....

Enzo, Your C6 should be just fine, on our Canadian the RT tour days are less than 300 miles. Bolton to Erie, Erie to Cumberland MD, Cumberland to Sandston. VA. The last day is a one hour drive.

                          Enzo,

I burned my wife and daughter out on a Road Tour that started in Estes Park, CO years ago. We drove there from Chicago in 16.5 hours, and then spent 5 days on the road through 7 National Parks. I loved it -- the scenery was drop-dead gorgeous, and I love driving so the 16.5 hours was no big deal to me. However, all that time on the road, even in a Suburban, was just too much of a good thing for the girls. That was poor planning on my part. I was a loaner on Road Tours for years as a result.

Flash forward to several years ago, and my daughter's Summer plans (which decidedly did not include a Road Tour) were upset by a broken ankle which resulted in her being fired from her Summer job. She decided to "show them" and go to California with me in the C6 -- cast and all. Everyone was so helpful to her -- Scott showed her how to use crutches; a skill he learned as a result of playing hockey, that she became an ardent supporter of the Road Tours and has come with me each year since. SWMBO (Google it) still flies or drives in and meets us at the event -- or skips it entirely -- dep0ending on location, location, location. This year my daughter has a shot at a Summer position that will look good on her CV, so this year may break the chain -- but even if it does she will be back next year. She and the wife almost never go to see the cars -- it is the people who bring them to the Road Tour and Convention. Every place I go -- even the Judging Retreat last week -- people ask about my daughter and it is all from Road Tours.

Show this to your wife. If this one will not be as long as that first one I did -- don't make that mistake -- encourage her to give it a shot. Everyone should have a list of things they do at least once -- just so they can say I tried it and ... Without trying one really doesn't know what it is like. (I have golf and snow skiing on that list, and a few other things that "I tried it once and it's not for me" list.)
                          Terry
