      Re: 1966 & 1967 K-19 Corvette owners

I got some stuf through eBay, some reproduction and some from a vendor. It's a bit cobbled together with some service replacement items, but it looks accurate. Would suffer a little on judging, tho. Some day I would like to finish it with accurate components if they are still available, although I understand how pricey they are. Since the car has its original drivetrain and I know its history regarding how it came out of California, I felt compelled to at least get it to appear correct. Didn't want the "plugs in the manifold" look. I had to get a reproduction K19 big block air cleaner base and have it fabricated with the threaded stud on the side for the mixture valve and the hose support off of the back side to make it appear correct. Very happy with how it turned out since those are about as rare as they come. I did get an original correct dated carburetor for my car...that was probably the best find out of the bunch....also very rare as you know. Some guy had it restored then sold the car so I stumbled across it languishing on the shelves of a carb restorer as he was trying to get rid of it with nobody wanting a K19 carburetor in his clientele. Amazing find! Anyway, hope that helps. If you know of some available components, I could be interested.

      Thanks for asking,
      Mark

Here’s a copy of the window sticker from a ’66 350HP with K19 that was sold new in San Francisco. I “rescued” this car (after many years of pestering) from the second owner of 30 plus years. At that point in time, it was an excellent condition unhit - original paint survivor and I don’t believe the drivetrain had ever been apart or out of the car.

While picking up the car from her garage, I asked if she had any documents related to it. She said there might be some stuff in the glovebox, where I promptly found the POP, window sticker, sales receipts and other goodies!

Last time I saw the car (a few years back), it still looked completely intact and unmolested.

Thank you Charlie, It might be one of the ones I already have counted. I am not keeping Vins numbers. But still, thank you for replying. That must have been a great find. If someone has that Vin, they could let me know if we have counted it. Dale

I got an email from Frank Paretti, He has a 1966 conv. 2 tops, 427 390HP. It has A/C, PS, PB, K-19 smog and T.I. The car was not sold in Caalifornia, his P.O.P. says General Motors. For more information, call him at 248-670-4319. I dont know whether this has been counted or not for sure, I will look it up . Anyway for now 42 or 43 K-19'S. Dale

I did a little checking up on myself tonight. We have 24 K-19's, 1966 & 1967 on this thread. I checked my counts on the C-2 registry for 1966. there are 13 K-19's and for the 1967 there are 16 for a total 53 that I know of. More later, Dale

With the addition of a Matts "Kathy Lee" car and another big block K-19 car by a member there are 55 operating 1966 and 1967 K-19 Corvettes. I know this is not all of them but without names or vins on auction Corvettes it is only approximate. Dale

As my computer crashed last month, I would like to have anyone whoi emailed me pictures over the last few years to please email them again. The pictures have been most helpful to members in restoring their K-19 systems. My email address is Dale0248@q.com Thank you Dale

Sorry to hear about the computer...... Another example of doing backups. I use an external hard drive that I only connect when I'm backing up. I do a complete "photo" backup each time so things are mostly repeated but It saves trying to remember only the "new "stuff". I usually do this quarterly.....

                        Dale,

I am the owner of a 66 L36 orignal car puchased from Felix Chevrolet in LA, California. It is a June 16th 1966 car and is an all orginal drive train big block and the correct dated K19 carburetor. Runs great!

Dale, I saw a black 67 435 convertible with K19 at the Florida Regional meet. I also know of a 67 435 triple blue coupe, Elkhart, teal with lyndale blue stripe. I also know of a 67 red/red 400 AC AIR coupe. All are really neat cars.

Reading these replies got me thinking. Did K-19 only come on cars with big blocks destined for California? I had a 67 base engine 327 delivered in California that only had the PCV on the oil fill tube and breather hole to air cleaner system. What is/is not required?

Tom, I own a 67 400 hp car with AC and AIR. The unusual part is that the car was sold new in Canada even though K 19 was not required there at that time. I have the GM of Canada paperwork that documents this.
