Ron -- now that the cover is lifted (notice I didn't say removed from inside the car; the only time I ever did that I had to remove the seats and the steering column first; the cover is very fragile), can you see any clues why you aren't able to fill the tank above half ? ie. leaks at the seam, fuel level gauge ?

      Re: big tank repair

I figure it's probably leaking at the seam, but worse case I'll just put no more than 10 gallons in at one time, so that's OK..
does the tank appear to be original from the pictures, just concerned since early Nov. car...........

        Hi Ron,

Try these links which hopefully will open. Included in the many assembly line photos is a big tank car being assembled. Don't know if it will help but you may find it interesting.

that setup would scare the hell out of me to drive around in traffic. it looks to me like if the tank was ruptured in a accident the fuel would spill into the inside of the corvette. good case for a bladder inside the tank

And you get reminded that you've got hi-test about 6 inches back of your pelvis to your shoulder blades every time you pull over and turn off the key; you get about one or two "slosh" waves. I use the clutch and brake combo when coming to a rolling semi-gentle stop, just to hear the sound .

Was it not Art Armstrong who (about 5 years ago, on this site) said that there might be a recall campaign for the remaining C2 tankers to avoid a spill as you describe ? -- don't know what became of that subject.

Probably no more than a dozen had been built prior to yours. I see you've lifted the cover up to expose the tank and fill/vent hoses. Anything written on the tank ?
Hi Wayne, excuse my lack of knowledge, but what does IMO stand for? Would you like to see any more pictures, what's the odds this may not be an original big tank car from what you've seen?

                Thanks

Ron, your car has appeared in Driveline ads in #106, 140, 154 and 174 - unfortunately, all of the ads were placed by a "Ron" in Ohio......
