The Dutchmen have landed and Jack we are comming to hunt you down on our wooden shoes.......

Yesterday evening we enjoyed the great city of chicago and ate some traditional pizza.....yes and we even met a nice young lady from the city of Golden / Colorado. Hey jack......isn't that your village?

In 1 hour we leave for Bloomington and we will depart from there (around 2 pm) to head for St. Louis. Hey Joe.....we reckon to be there around 7 pm, but will try to drop you an sms.

      To be continued......

Sander - Honk your horn as you pass Bloomington today. I'm with you guys, if only in spirit. Hard to believe that it's been a year since my son and I completed our adventure on Route 66. You will have a blast. Enjoy.

        Cheers

          Sander,
I'll bet that the lady fror Golden that you met in Chicago actually knows Jack (no pun intended)! Would not be outside the realm of possibility.

          Cheers,

Seems strange to see our Dutch cousins posting at a reasonable time of day.

Welcome to the States. Hope you're having a blast!

When you spoke of "Bloomington", I trust you were at the "Bloomington Gold" show in St. Charles, Illinois. I'd hate to think you wound up in Bloomington, Illinois, or for that matter, Bloomington, Indiana! That's what the Discovery Channel people were listing their Mecom Auction television coverage as being from - very confusing even for us native mid-westerners.

Got a new book for Father's day and it's "The Lincoln Highway". On page 129 there are photos of downtown Plainfield, IL. A sign there points out the overlap (only for three blocks) of the Lincoln Highway and Route 66.

I did the Plainfield cruise during 02 and 03. Problem was getting there during work break traffic on Rte. 59 - wow! Even my car started to heat up and I bailed for another day.

One night I caravaned back with this knockout chick with an 82 collector's edition. She was there by herself and we chatted awhile, but I didn't pry into the "Why!" she was there alone. On the way back, I caught up to her and sort of escorted her to her turn off. Never saw her again. Something like the T-Bird driver in American Graffiti.

Just went to your site on the trip.
That vendor was very lucky for me as well (for the past three years) of having those little things you can't find anywhere else or not paying over the top on the part prices.
Looks like the weather is cooperating for you as well.

Make sure to stop at Cadillac Ranch just outside of Amarillo Texas.
You might also want to see if you can finish the 42 oz Steak Dinner in town as well.

                        Good Travels,

So another days has passed. In the morning we visited St. Louis and we were impressed by the arch....incredible

It was a long 7 hour drive up to Fort Knox, we just arrived 2 hours ago and had a quick dinner. Unfortunately the decent hotels were full so we have to survive in a shabby motel.

Tomorrow we start at Fort Knox and the Patton Museum and then we are on our way to BOWLING GREEN!

                            New pics are added!!

Stu - of course you know that the T-bird driver in American Graffiti was none other than Suzanne Sommers.... before her infomercial days!

After visiting Graceland today (which was incredible) we just arrived to the area of Springfield. Tomorrow we get back on route 66 and pursue our route to Tulsa!!!

Thanks Greg for arranging us some rooms!
