Re: Route 66
Sander;
I don't believe anyone has asked and maybe it's a stupid question, but what transportation mode will you and your friends be using? First thing that jumped to my mind was that you would ship your Vettes over in order to enjoy the experience to it's fullest, or perhaps rent new Vettes from Hertz, or maybe something more practical like a bus or RV's. I don't see anyone jump up and offer to loan you their Vettes just yet, but that would be cool.
Just thought I'd add some foolish thoughts to a grand plan, as I am sure as you approach it with the anticipation and excitement that such an experience is due.
Good luck and have a blast.

Re: Route 66
Sander,
I would be interested in meeting you guys in St. Louis, possibly at Ted Drewe's Chippewa (Route 66 location). Send me an email (j.r.raine@gmail.com) when you get a bit closer to the trip. We'll see if we can hook up. Enjoy your trip down the mother road!

Sander,
There's a 21-page article loaded with photos in the latest (June, 2009) issue of "Vette Vues" magazine about a group of eight midyear owners that ran from Chicago to the end of the original Route 66 in Santa Monica, California; 16 days, 2700 miles.- Top

In the Tulsa area you might consider the Gilcrease Museum,which is world class and one of the finest western art museums. We would be glad to host your group in Tulsa for that or lunch etc.

Re: Route 66
Stuart,
I investigated this and cost to ship to Chicago will be aprox USD 1200 per car single trip, so USD 2400 per car. Since we will be with 5 people we need 3 of our Vettes......and this is excluding the special insurance.
However I do agree it would be so cool to bring our Vettes back to their birth location.....
