Just thought I'd add some foolish thoughts to a grand plan, as I am sure as you approach it with the anticipation and excitement that such an experience is due.

Good luck and have a blast.

well shipping our vettes over would be the coolest but unfortunatly
      pretty expensive too.

          Sander,

I would be interested in meeting you guys in St. Louis, possibly at Ted Drewe's Chippewa (Route 66 location). Send me an email (j.r.raine@gmail.com) when you get a bit closer to the trip. We'll see if we can hook up. Enjoy your trip down the mother road!

If you are staying out near Graceland. May I suggest going into town to "Beale Street" in the evening. Great "Blues" music and bars. They close off the street and you can walk up and down with a drink and listen to the music and drop into the different bars. Good food there also.

There's a 21-page article loaded with photos in the latest (June, 2009) issue of "Vette Vues" magazine about a group of eight midyear owners that ran from Chicago to the end of the original Route 66 in Santa Monica, California; 16 days, 2700 miles.

                                Stuart,

I investigated this and cost to ship to Chicago will be aprox USD 1200 per car single trip, so USD 2400 per car. Since we will be with 5 people we need 3 of our Vettes......and this is excluding the special insurance.

However I do agree it would be so cool to bring our Vettes back to their birth location.....
