Sander, if you get a chance stop in Stroud, OK which's on Route 66 west of Tulsa about 1 hr. http://www.oklahomaroute66.com/prese.../rockcafe.html

Pete Swatzsky owns Route 66 Restoration Supply right across the street from the Rock Cafe. Pete has a nice collection of 55-7 Chevy/Corvette memorabilia y'al might enjoy seeing. http://www.rt66restorationsupplies.com/

Daryl Starbird museum is in Afton, OK before you get to Tulsa. http://www.darrylstarbird.com/contact.htm

Enjoy your trip, will see y'al at the Hearst Castle. Best, Gary....

I wonder if you'd be able to see Daryl Starbird's superfleck moonbird? Always wondered what that might have looked like . . .

I really enjoyed meeting the Dutch men at Ted Drewe's in St. Louis. John and Suzanne Twiehaus brought their mighty fine '60 Corvette. My kids enjoyed the puppy dogs nearby more than the car. I've got some edumacating to do with them!

Looks like this thread is either going for a new record on DB nesting depth, OR it's trying to test the DB's code integrity for telescoping thread depth...

How is it going? Many on Bill Sangrey's Tour?

Don't get too hot going across the desert.

                        Re: Route 66

Great time was had last evening in Tulsa by all on the Road Tour led by Bill Sangrey. Didn't get a head count but there was a large room full of Road Tour members at Tally's restaurant on 11th St (ole Rte 66) & Yale. The dinner was sponsored by the Oklahoma Chapter, which was really a nice! Roy Sinor invited the Road Tour to visit and tour his shop. Scott Sinclair lost a water pump (notice Scott didn't mention that) in his '67 small block coupe w/air. Roy Sinor procured the water pump, Scott and Werner had it changed by 8PM. John Neas invited and hosted the Road Tour to watch the City of Tulsa's downtown fireworks display. July 4th in Tulsa was great thanks to the Oklahoma Chapter, Roy Sinor and John Neas. Three of us from the Texas Chapter joined the Road Tour in Tulsa. My '64 started running a little hot 60 miles south of Tulsa. It was triple digits in Texas and southern Oklahoma and it was running 180, then climbed to 220 and couple of times higher. Thankfully, it didn't puke. Removed the thermostat at Sinor's shop. Drove it to watch the fireworks. Temp gauge pegged. Not sure at this stage if the problem's a bad temp sender or gauge. IR gun was measuring 220 on thermostat housing and a couple of times 235. To make a long story short decided to return home and not take any chances going across the desert. When I got off the Interstate onto a US Highway the rear end seemed a little squirrely. Accelerated hard and could hear a clunk. Have trailing arm or left rear wheel bearing going out. When I checked in to let the Road Tour know I got home okay they were in almost to Elk City, OK and stopping at the Route 66 Museum. This Road Tour group will have a GRRRREAT time! Sorry, I'll miss it. Will see y'al at San Jose. Gary....

I understand someone attempted to steal Werner Meier's 67 "Stinkray" last night at the hotel and it was damaged to the point that it was not drivable. His sons were enroute with a trailer to tow it home. Sad news

Sander, We look forward to seeing you in CA. Our 1967 is running like a champ. The collective minds of the group have worked well to keep our older cars safe and running. The issues range from our water pump, a tire to be plugged, a lost odometer, Two sets of points and an electric fuel pump installed. We are over 3,000 miles now. Our SMALL TANK GROUP is 2-57's, 59,62 w trailer, 63, 64, 2-67's. Hot day coming up 100+. Four cars left at 4 am to cross the desert.
