    Concours Naming Survey Q

Is Mary Barra, GM CEO, involved in any way with supporting the NCRS?
Is her importance to the level of having this program named after her for decades to come?

The suggestion to name it for her came out of left field for me, but maybe I'm not up to speed on her importance to the NCRS.

(I'd like to propose a new forum to discuss the NCRS organization not just the technical forum for the cars themselves. There is no current forum where this sort of post belongs.)

The Cadillac & LaSalle Club has a division for "Personalized Cars". I suggest that name for the Concours division. I don't believe the C&LaS Club has copyrighted that name, but if it sounds right some quick investigation is in order.

You're good! One "atta boy" for knowing who she is.

I think we should name one of our own .... Someone who has supported NCRS for many years, someone who has been a National Team Leader, someone, who over many years, has schooled all of us, someone who has supported and is recognized by National Corvette Museum, someone well respected by other Corvette organizations, someone who ... Well you get the point.

Terry; didn't realize u were a member of the caddy Lasalle club. I am but it doesn't lite a candle to ncrs. I 'm a member of caddy lassie because I have and love 37 Lasalle top shifter 3 speeds. they'll take my beating and keep on ticking. next time we are together, I'll relate a story about my run in with the law as a teenager due to a certain 37 Lasalle 3 speed I'm currently rebuilding for a 50 olds 88 holiday hardtop. take care old buddy. mike

You may wish to compare the clubs, but I had no intention to do that. I just happen to think they chose a good title for their division of the kind of cars we are trying to attract.

I had a 1937 Cadillac 4-door sedan for decades. Finally sold it to make room for more Corvettes. Pre-war was when cars were beasts. I joined the C&LaS club in the 1960's. Before NCRS was a twinkle in John A's eyes.

When you click other, does it later allow you to select a name different than those presented ?
I didn't want to hit submit if there was a follow-up screen coming next...
                  thx,

I agree with TM on calling it "Personalized Cars". I compliment TS for the effort to increase use of the class.

When I saw "Mary Barra" I thought to myself... WTF? What the hell has she ever done for the the vintage Corvette community? I don't think she's a particularly good CEO, but I don't think much of any of the other automotive CEOs, either. They all pissed away waaaaay too much money on electric cars, which has cost the shareholders a fortune! At least Barra appears to have left the Corvette in the hands of real car guys.

Now if the name was something like Harley Earl, Ed Cole, or Bill Mitchell I would have completed the survey. Dave Hill should be considered, too. HIs C5 set a new standard for structural stiffness in a lightweight package, and that unique architecture carried through to the C7.

It's good that management is surveying the members, but list some choices that make sense. I recall one choice was "other", but you couldn't make an actual suggestion.

I didn't complete the survey and just deleted the email.

                        Hey... how about Roger Smith?

If any of the members are not happy with the name choices, please respond with Other. Obviously if Other WINS in the choice list we will have to think again and come up with a name that will work.

With all due respect and undoubtedly an unpopular opinion….. The National Corvettes RESTORERS Society was a club like no other. It was established to persevere and restore. Not modified non factory (while awesome) examples.

This judging class has somewhat diminished the “Value” of what was once a leading car enthusiasts source of inspiration and information for researchers and restorers.

Let the show n shines hand out the trophies.

I look at a Blue Ribbon in the concours class the same way I look at a 1st place plastic trophy from a show and shine JMHO
