On rare occasions maybe no dates, I'd submit you need to look closer.

Yes - the dates on the box could not be there for 1982 if the part was being made in 1979.

I just looked at one of the short end flaps where I opened the box, hidden when the box is closed, and found this information.

I believe he said its a 68 filter. I have no idea as I have no knowledge on these.
