I searched the C2 registry, but could not find an explanation. I did various calcs myself, but could not replicate what is there.

BTW, even assuming the number is really the decimal equivalent of that percentage (i.e., the % sign should not be there), the math equates to 7.2 cars out of 1,000,000. If it is really being expressed as a true percentage, that math equates to 7.2 cars out of 100,000,000.

    What am I missing here?

        Re: 1965 L78 Register

it is the factor of all options the car has and hasn't e.g.:

        45% x (100 - 35%) x (30%) ... =

I take all interior colors, exterior colors, hardtop colors, softtop colors etc. and all car options and available engines in account resulting is such a small fraction of percentages...

conclusion: nearly every car is unique!

                  Re: 1965 L78 Register

Many years ago I met a gentleman who lived in New Jersey in the central part of the state out by the Pennsylvania border. He was the ORIGINAL owner of a 1965 L78 roadster. If my memory serves me correctly, he told me that he and several of his buddies bought similarly equipped '65's at the same time after the 396 made its debut. Unfortunately, his buddies blew the engines in their cars but his retained its original driveline throughout the years. I tried many times to purchase this car from him but he didn't have any interest in letting her go. My last attempt was offering him a trade for my 1990 ZR-1 (black over slate blue interior) plus cash. He declined my offer stating that he gravitated towards the C2's and had no interest in the newer models. He ultimately moved to a VERY far away place and the car went with him. It's been years, but I think I still have his contact information somewhere. If I can find it I'll give him a call to see if he's be willing to provide any information about the car. It was a Nassau blue car but I don't recall the interior color. I remember the ride he gave me in it and I recall flying past the local State Trooper barracks at just a little (wink wink) over the local speed limit. He told me in passing that he also had owned a 1960 corvette that he ordered new with fuel injection and the aluminum head option. He remembered how many problems he had with the motor because of the poorly cast aluminum heads.

                      Re: 1965 L78 Register

From what I remember him telling me-yes. He said he no longer had the car and that was about as far as the conversation went about the '60 since I was more interested in his '65. I'm not very knowledgeable with regard to the C1's but I do recall some information about aluminum heads and 1960 injected engines.
