That is the original FAIRGROUNDS at BLOOMINGTON - NORMAL, IL where it all began. First show was a SWAP MEET in 1973 as I remember. As word spread about the show, in 1974 it was expanded to two days, Saturday and Sunday, and a gymkhana event was added. Attendance for the show tripled and 82 vendor spaces were sold at $5.00 each. The number of Corvettes grew to 684, and judging classes for restored, original, custom, and semi-custom cars were added.The Bloomington Corvette Corral continued to gather momentum, adding an all-Corvette auction in 1975 with over 100 cars entered. Other Corvettes were offered for sale in the Show & Sell event, while 300 cars were pre-registered to compete in the concours. Over 1200 Corvettes were on hand with several thousand enthusiasts in attendance.By 1977, the Bloomington Corral had grown to be the biggest Corvette event in the country, with people attending from across the nation and around the world. The show was expanded to three days this year, and both attendance and Corvette numbers again grew considerably.

It was crazy in the field, when the thunder and rains came, the cars got buried in the mud. Everyone ran to the chicken coops for shelter.

The HOLIDAY INN was for nighttime action. Beer and fun with new and old friends.

1969 Corvettes at Chevrolet dealer lot in Colorado Springs, Co. Late spring just before graduation at Air Force Academy, waiting on new graduates to pick up their car. About 100 new Corvettes lined up.

2006, Chevrolet announces they're bringing back the Camaro. So they have some show business guy take the concept car to the Bob's Big Boy in Burbank. And somebody brought their Corvette along for the event.

The owner of Lee County Dragway & Raceway Park, Mr. Saar, is standing with Jerry and his Car. Lee county is the most southeastern county in Iowa, where the Des Moines River meets up with the Mississippi. Largest Lee county towns are Keokuk and Fort Madison.

Fresno's Frontier Chevrolet, as depicted in the facebook period photo link below, was designed by architect Walter Wagner. The building has been heavily remodeled and is now the Cesar Chavez Fresno Adult School. On O Street and Blackstone.
