Re: POST OLD PICTURES of CORVETTES HERE - NOSTALGIA
Could be, though I thought I could make out split in back, but that could be roll bar. Isn't that stainless on windshield side?
And long base side view mirror? I see there are no cookie trays.- Top

Re: POST OLD PICTURES of CORVETTES HERE - NOSTALGIA
OK, then possibly this car
''The Z06 was ordered Red/Black in Oct. 1962 and finally arrived in March 1963 Black/Red and with the wait the owner accepted the car in what would become the rarest color for a 1963 and this is a Z06. He traded his 1957 Corvette fuelie on the new car and began racing his new car in SoCal high speed events. The photo album shows the transition of the car to wider and wider flairs, Magnesium wheels and in 1966 a 427/425 over the counter big block. Hill climbs were added to the race history and then the car was sold in 1967 and replaced with a 1966 Cobra side oiler. The lore with the car has a San Diego State student Prince from India buying and racing the car at Riverside Speedway. The car looked very much like a Grandsport with the last race engine a 1968 L88. The graduating Prince found it too expensive to ship the Z06 to India and sold the car locally in 1970. The new owner is on a copy of THE CALIFORNIA title. The car was sold at the Panoma swap meet in 1998. A white paint job with Blue racing strip and an interior spruce up was completed and I purchased the car in 1999.
I located the original owner and arranged a dinnerto learn about the car and receive the photo album to copy. Now decision time, race the car or restore it. I liked the Grand Sport look, decided not to race due to updating but retain the body changes. The body was removed and carefully documented and the drive train, chassis and interior were restored/rebuilt to NCRS specs.

Re: POST OLD PICTURES of CORVETTES HERE - NOSTALGIA
Dan,
Great pictures! Do you have any more? I worked there for 2 years as a guide ("Please watch your step as you enter the theater") and saw the introduction of the microwave oven and the '64 Mustang. My pavilion was across the "street" from the Chrysler pavilion and watched the turbine cars run around a small track all day for both summers. Every time I see the one at the Henry Ford it brings back a flood of memories.

Re: POST OLD PICTURES of CORVETTES HERE - NOSTALGIA
Well Don, I just went through this thread of yours so as not to duplicate any photos. What a blast! I'd missed some of these.
Here's a shot of '57's ('56's?) ready for shipment. 50 Corvettes. Love 'em and all the other Chevy's on the lot!

Here's a great shot of a '63 at a Fontana-San Bernadino, CA dealership. Great lines throughout these 2 shots. Enjoy.

Re: POST OLD PICTURES of CORVETTES HERE - NOSTALGIA
There was a photo taken the next year with the partially completed arch in the background. Photo date was 10-15-1965, with white '66 Convertibles; It's been posted a few times here on ncrs.org, as well as on facebook.com. If I recall correctly, it is also in this thread.https://MichiganNCRS.org

That photo has been posted a few times as well as one for the '67s.
The black and white photo of the '66s make them look white as they were actually Sunfire Yellow.- Top
