Two boys next to C are my boys. One of the guys was ADA of Lubbock County, C's driver as he had a small blemish on his DL at the time. the red 'burban had a 454 and 2:73 rear might have exceeded the speed limits a bit. My Surban is behind it to give an idea of the "chop"

2 1/2 years ago, the wife and i hit the road in our small class C RV, stopping in lubbock and spending the day with billy--lea stayed at the campgrounds and billy took me for a tour of his old shop and a bunch of his buddies collector car garages. we were in the chopped top suburban and he ran it up to 100 or so MPH. he was the haziest i'd ever seen him at that time. amgwert, lunberg, dipstick, billy c, vinny peters and i all attended the laughlin regional last year. billy had lost about 150# via gastric bypass. he looked good and said he was scheduled for more surgery on his spine shortly after laughlin. apparently the surgery wasn't too successful and i believe the complications of that last surgery has contributed to his inability to get out of bed today. he told me he's in a nursing home and doubts he'll leave . what a character.the best story teller i've ever experienced. mike

Those surely were the days Mike. My old Suburban, before it became orange, is in the first picture Carl posted, above Lorens question of the year of the Bend Convention -- in the third row. That was a great trip with your Coke cooler in tow. Was that the trip Chrissy drove your 1954 and the starter change in the motel parking lot? If I have it right that was the trip I abandoned Ralph S for improper behavior in the second seat of my Sub. Great fun with great friends.

Was the initial picture in the Ozarks? Good to see that Bill C was still in partial compliance with the rules of the Witness Protection Program. Sorry to hear about apparently bad results of back surgery post-Laughlin. It was a good feeling-all-over event, especially when Bill referred to Ed Cole's
"boys" who had created the miracle of the '55 and the SBC with reverence in his tone. Stage a rebellion and Recovery, Mr C and be in Scottsdale in May and Vegas in the Summer and we'll do it again, just to see if we can finally get it "right".

the trip to bend involved chrissy driving the 54, along with little mike, from her apartment in baltimore to bend where she got the first Folz award. it was the trip the old 54 needed some starter and generator attention but i had brought along extras(in the Coke Cooler trailer---not with the beer but underneath the iced down brewskis. that Folz award is , to my knowledge, the only time a single Corvette won the longest driven award. lea and i were in the 67 400 c-60 coupe pulling the Coke Cooler trailer(which i still have the coke cooler that is) .the 54 and 67 were on the cover of the Restorer shortly after Bend. those sure were the good old days buddy. mike

My camera for that trip was old school. I have those pictures in an album. Some day I'll have to get them scanned. It kind of scares me to think of that as the "old Days"

BTW: The new knee is coming along fine, but like before PT is a booger.

By popular demand, here are some ground rules for this thread. The photos should be old. Meaning, not shot last week or last year. Old as in nostalgic old. Anything post Y2K is probably not old. And, the photos should emphasize Corvette(s) or Corvette related. Not women. We can go all over the internet and look at shots of sexy ladies. Let's leave them out of this thread, please. Thanks for understanding, and let's see old photos of people enjoying their Corvettes, both in and out of the club.

Don: I made another change in my settings, way down near the bottom. It wasn't the setting that we found together, but another one which did the trick! THANKS and THANKS AGAIN!

If you are finding that when you post a photograph it only shows a thumbnail without a full size image, you can change your settings to fix that.
In USER PROFILE in small tool bar above, My Settings on left side of page, find General Settings in middle of the list, then Miscellaneous Options near bottom of settings in main part of the page, under Message Editor Interface, select option one ENHANCED INTERFACE - Full WYSIWIG Editing. Be sure to go to bottom of the page and hit Save Changes.

This was after winning the class (with my son who will be 41 this Sunday) in our 1960 at Cedar Falls, Iowa. (I have a NCRS shirt on!) Don H.

Track still there, as of a couple of years ago. Right?

From the LA Times Classified Ads Jun, July, August 1965. I see that you could buy two year old Fastback Coupes with fuel engine for around $3200. Step up to the newer 64 Fastback Fuel would run around $500-600 more. A 63 Fastback with AC in Nocturne Blue and matching Int. $3100. Used 65s around $4000. Old stuff like 54, 56, 58 from around $500-$1100. Oh boy.....
