Looks like a nice 67 GTO parked behind it. Was that your family’s as well? Best wishes for the 70’s restoration.

Jim Sermersheim driving his teams 1956 Corvette. The engine was set back in the frame, so they moved the drivers seat, back as far as possible.

This was my 1st Corvette in the summer of 1966. Car#12114 Silver blue with Dark blue interior. Previous original owner bought it new. I put headers on it, 4:56 gears, rev-lock clutch setup and carb, ignition and valve spring enhancements for a very impressive 250hp street racer. This was before NCRS, C-3's and tri-power big blocks. A lot of guys I raced and beat couldn't get over how fast that 250 car went. It didn't hurt I ran 9:00x15 M&H racemasters on it unless it was wet out. Good times.

Speaking of Mike Gage Chevrolet, digging thru some stuff ran across this old t-shirt. I had spent so much time getting parts there that one time the guy behind the counter said, "Your a regular around here you've earned this."

On Facebook today, one son and two daughters in the Bristow family are commenting about their father's drag racing with a 1966 White Corvette (might be in the background). Their father's Corvette was called "The Pusher" and he often raced another white Corvette "The Ghost". Likely, the one called the Ghost is shown below, when racing in SE Iowa near Keokuk (also the home of a couple of NASCAR drivers).

Back when they were just used cars. 4-wheeling in your corvette. You can't make this stuff up.

I caught this on an old Mission Impossible television episode. Season 7, Episode 13, Dec. 22, 1972. Roddy McDowall leaving an estate in his '72 Corvette.

It would be nice to check out the crayon codes on the rear bulkhead. A 1967 Smith body has a I
27 build date but the crayon code is K 27.

                              Thanks, Don,
                              Huh...all convertibles on that load...

Makes me wonder if DowSmith (AOS) had an advantage over St. Louis if they could run bodies down the line in batches of convertibles - then batches of coupes and vice versa ?
I don't think St. Louis could do that and keep product delivery consistent.

I think there would also be some (maybe not a lot) production quality-oriented advantages in assembly operations if they could do that...

Also makes me wonder how many bodies could St. Louis store in the basement ?

Larry Galloway probably knows as he was there - both at Ionia and St. Louis from Aug '62 to some time in the '67 model year.
                              thx,
                              Mark
