Re: when is a CORVETTE show a corvette show???????
I saw that, plus it will be raining part of the way from Santa Fe to Frisco tomorrow. Looks like I need to bring my detail kit and some towels to clean my car up before it goes into the CC.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Re: when is a CORVETTE show a corvette show???????
Let me preface this with saying , an individual can drive or spend money on whatever car he wants, However, the fact remains that for C3's from at least 73 till end of C3 production was a low point in Corvettes', as well as most other cars' history. For most part, last high compression, high horsepower year for C3's was '70. Smog emission control choked low horsepower engines-think 160 hp, rubber ducky front and rear ends. I remember sometime in 80's when a pickup had the fastest 0-60 time of cars tested by Car and Driver. And again buy and drive what you like, but I don't see anybody bidding up C4's, C5's as classics or collector cars either. My prediction is that C6's and C7's will only become more than just used cars if Government rules , such as more emission and mileage standards cause serious reductions in horsepower as happened in the 70's and 80's.- Top

I wouldn't argue with your opinion of the late C3s, as far as performance goes. But I love my 5,000 mile '81 as much as I love my 40,000 mile '64 L76 or my 15,000 mile 2012 ZR1, both of which will blow its' doors off, but so what? I like the look and feel of all Corvettes, they are unique and the best of whatever auto generation they were in at the time. I do not hope my ZR1 becomes one of the "last of the performance Corvettes" like the LS6 '71 Corvettes did for many decades, but it could happen.Let me preface this with saying , an individual can drive or spend money on whatever car he wants, However, the fact remains that for C3's from at least 73 till end of C3 production was a low point in Corvettes', as well as most other cars' history. Using your logic of performance being the main factor for owning one of these cars, why would a person want anything prior to a C6? There's lots of four door econo-box imports that will out run any of the muscle car era Corvettes- and are infinitely more affordable, reliable and comfortable at the same time.Let me preface this with saying , an individual can drive or spend money on whatever car he wants, However, the fact remains that for C3's from at least 73 till end of C3 production was a low point in Corvettes', as well as most other cars' history. You're absolutely right! VetteHeads members are mostly narrow minded, bigoted old geezers.Using your logic of performance being the main factor for owning one of these cars, why would a person want anything prior to a C6? As far as what you said earlier about ignoring those that rub you the wrong way, you're on my list.
