    Re: Alignment specs ?

    Jack,
Please give us a report on how your car handles with the alignment settings - am curious as I put a set of radials on my 64 convertible after I had the suspension rebuilt with stock / original parts and set to factory alignment specs. I find that the steering is "darty", rather sensitive especially at speeds of 60 or above.

      Hi,

If you set the car up to factory specs, you will get "darty" action with radials .

The "Castor Setting" must be changed from 1.5-1.75 to as much as you can get with OEM A arms. Try having the Castor set to 2 on the driver side and 2.5 on passenger side to compensate for road crown.....

This is with power steering. With out power steering, you will have a little more resistance at low speeds, but much better control at highway speeds...

You may not be able to get to 2 on the castor because of design of original arms. That is why some up grade to arms that can get up to 6 degrees.

        Jack,
Thanks - please let us know the results (how it handles) if any other settings deviate from factory specs.

          Re: Alignment specs ?

Hi , I have taken the car in to a alignment shop to get an idea of what the present front alignment specs are ( I did not do any work on front) and to set the camber on the rear after the installation new strut rods and cam bolt kits and all bushings.

I did not bring any shims this time as I felt that they could do the rear camber without much c-2 corvette experience, plus I wanted to run the specs past the forum members for suggestions.

I have attached two photos of my left and front A-arms. Do I have any room left for shims to get the + 2 in castor on the front.?

This is how my car sits now.

          Left Front Right Front

          Camber 0.1 + -0.1

          Castor +1.1 +1.1

          Toe +0.26 +0.26

          Total Toe 0.52

          Steer Ahead 0.00

          Left Rear Right Rear

          Camber -0.4 -0.5

          Toe +0.5 -0.16

          Total Toe +0.33

          Thrust Angle+0.33
