- Is the problem radiant heat? This is a heat source (like exhaust pipes, engine block) that heats nearby surfaces like the floor, tunnel, firewall- making them warm or hot to the touch. Some likely causes: missing insulation or heat shields; exhaust pipes routed too close to the floor.
- Or is the problem convective heat? This is warm air getting in the interior. Some likely causes: a heater door not working properly; holes or gaps in the firewall; bad hood seal, etc.
Understanding the type of heat source helps troubleshoot its cause.
