Thanks!!!! I am all registered and found out Sportsman is for more than one day. I thought it was just for one and wondered about parking for the
other days. So it is scheduled to be there for all the days as I have gone ALL in on my first NCRS meet. I registered for as much as I can. EVEN gonna take a stab at being and Observer Judge if I get selected. I don't know if that is a sure thing yet but I am registered. I figured, why not just jump right in and see what all this NCRS judging is all about. I read threads all over the forums (not just this one) about judging experiences. I think the best way is to see what it is like in person. I am hoping to get into the 1970-72 category but I will gladly accept anything that is handed my way. I am giving my ride a break today. I really drove her good these past weeks. Simply, put it shows me she has a GREAT chance of making it to Kissimmee with no problems on the way. She is ready for the drive!

Ed & Marc,This sounds like a great story that I think we would all be interested in and we can all relate to, with that being said, is there any chance it could be published in the Restorer or the Driveline so we could all enjoy Marc's story? Just a thought.

Phil, how funny you just posted this as I had just hit the submit button to give Ed even more information via his private message box. I told him my story. I actually had a lot more to say but I didn't want to drive Ed crazy with every single little detail. So I gave him the big picture and will fill in any blanks he sees fit. I would be happy to share my story with everyone if this is to include the publications you speak of. The story I just sent Ed was the big picture but I can go into even more detail but I don't know how in depth he wanted me to go with it. I am certain Ed will have more questions and I will have all the answers he needs and provide him with even more details as necessary. Best regards.

Re: I finally found my 1971 Corvette!

Well, I gotta tell you I am loving this car more everyday. I am really "practicing the drive" in preparation for the drive from south fla to Kissimmee. I have been driving her consistently and at somewhat longer distances. Since I am participating in Sportsman there will be no towing the car. I am driving my baby all the way there and back. She is performing great but I thought I had a major setback. My neighbor was taking a look at the car and I started the car for him and he pointed out that the left exhaust sounded much louder and more exhaust was coming out the left pipe than the right. I couldn't explain it. So me, "Mr. NO IT NOTHING" got so concerned that I thought I had a major exhaust/carburetor issue. Turns out I had no idea what a heat riser is and what it is for and how it is supposed to work. Well I found out REAL fast and thank goodness. All is well an took her out for a morning ride and all sounds great. Both exhausts sound the same with same amount of exhaust after driving. This car is so ready to make the trip! I can't wait. Marc, where are you in the South Florida area? I'm in Miami and I'm trying to coordinate a caravan up to Kissimmee. Let me know if you are interested.

HAHAHA! Probably not the first "discovery" you will make about your old 'Vette. But don't feel bad, it happens to the best. 2 years ago I wanted to replace the side exhaust on my '67 L71 (they were original and badly rusted/rotting out). So I noticed a large C2 Corvette supply vendor (who shall remain nameless), just got some original type carbon steel, original sound ones in from a manufacturer to sell. So I ordered a set, pretty pricy too. When I put them on, I noticed the passenger side pipes were sticking down about an 1 1/2" or so too low, and lower than the driver's side. Of course the "manufacturer" and the supply vendor didn't seem to know (or check) that the heat riser is usually on a '67, unless modified of course. They went back to be proper sized. Sometimes you wonder why people forget these things on old cars.

Ed I am in west broward. Thank you so much for the invite and I would be interested. Here are my plans are now and if you are going the same time that would be great. I just booked a condo on hotwire for about 50 bucks a night plus tax/fees. It is a great deal. There are still 3 left at that price if anyone is interested. I am leaving Thursday morning in the wee hours of the morning and headed right to the event. Are you going up Thursday morning? I have to work on Wednesday and didn't want to do trip late at night so going up Thursday. Thanks.

Wow great story makes me feel a LITTLE better. Gosh, I felt so DUMB. The ONE thing I have going for me that I am told I am an excellent driver and really know how to make his car drive like a Cadillac if I want or change it to your worst nightmare ever. LOL! I drive it like a caddy 98% of the time though. haha
