I finally found my 1971 Corvette!

I waited a LONG LONG LONG LONG time for this to happen. I did a long distance transaction and I came up with this. I absolutely love the car and thought I would share it with the NCRS. As it stands for now I plan on enjoying the car and taking it to local events.

Thanks!!!!! I absolutely love the car and it has totally motivated me to get involved more with the NCRS. I plan on entering it in the Sportsman category for the Kissimmee meet. I just got the car registered and the insurance papers required for registration. Right now the car is at a local mechanic so it really gets a good go through and want to be certain everything works as is, as I am expected to drive the car to the event rather trailer it. I also plan on getting involved in Observer Judging. I know I am new but I am just a go for it type of person. I want to see how the process works and who knows, after I enjoy the heck out of driving the car perhaps I will take it to a chapter meet and get it judged for the first time and see where it takes me! I am REALLY REALLY happy with the car.

Thanks! I really feel the welcome here! This purchase has been a dream come true. Really it has! When I saw the NCRS sticker on the back window I said, hmmmmm, just maybe I can find the guy here on this forum. I looked for the name here that was on the title of the car and I found him. He was so nice that he mailed me a packet of old titles, photos, receipts, brochures, etc. I thank him so much. I told him his car he had will be well cared for. Speaking of stickers, the original tank sticker should be arriving in the mail. I got the tracking number and can't wait to finally see it in person. Here is a copy of my documentation:

I also found this on ebay last week and made the purchase. I like originality and yes I have flight judging in mind for later and just had to grab it. I got it for a great price. I do not know if it works, but I know anything can be rebuilt. It is actually a 1971 part numbered original radio! I have no idea how to install it, but I can worry about it later. At least I got an original AM/FM pushbutton radio which my build sheet identifies what came with my car.

                    Mark,

Please note that the radio also had a unit behind the passenger's side of the dash. So, you only have half of the radio.
In addition, these were originally electronically matched to each other from the factory for the best performance.
Check behind your passenger side dash to see if you have the original amp still present.

Yes, I have considered this. I was about to go purchase the other half, UNTIL I received several photos from the previous owner of the car. In one of the restoration photos I see the other half!!!!! I think it is a good bet it is still there right behind the passenger dash. The car is so "new" to me I am really not ready to start tearing things apart (albeit it may not be difficult to look behind the dash). I am no wrench turner. I figure worst case scenario when I do decide to install the factory radio if it isn't there I will simply get another amp. Should be no big deal. I just had to grab that radio at the price it was at. I will have it in safekeeping for now. But, here is the picture I saw that made me postpone getting the amp for the time being. Best regards.

Since I got all my registration and insurance and chapter dues in, I am ready to register for my first NCRS event. This would be the one in Kissimmee. Is the car ready for Top Flight-NO. Ready for Judging at a Chapter: Sure, nothing wrong with Second/Third or NO Flight to participate in the process (but I am not doing this now). How about Sportsman Ribbon Event? YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT! I plan on entering the car in this event to show the car at the NCRS. I have got a lot to learn. But what I have learned is to be patient (it took me years) to find my 1971. I went through so many cars I lost count. (actually I know how many I considered, you don't want to know that answer. LOL). Well, anyway, pictures are worth a thousands words. How about some sound of the car being taken off the delivery truck? Hearing the big block start right up gave me chills that I will never ever forget. It was a great feeling hearing her start up! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8xAygNWopyE
