Unless Terry got lots heavier, has his arm in a sling, and has a 30 something wife, nope. But I think Terry did buy Harling's '63 Z06 tanker.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Re: '67 L88 goes for $3.2 million
This is an article I did a few months ago for Vintage Motorsport magazine. It' very difficult to confirm any of the deals auction houses make with sellers. All the houses want the best cars. Most will waive the seller's commission for a really good car. Maybe. If you have a '78 Corvette you're going to pay that fee though.
What was amazing was that Mecum sold this Corvette. I think he's trying to move up in the auction world. $3.2 million puts him in RM territory. Dana has aways been a volume house. He's been the Wal Mart to David Gooding's Tiffany. If your only auction experience has been the B-J experience you should attend an RM or Gooding auction. It's a totally different experience.

Was that red Z06 a big gas tank car?.......If its the one that sold for 250 I was told it was a regular tank.- Top

Yes, you're right, it wasn't a tanker. But it was Terry, I think, that bought Buddy's Z06. I got Buddy's Z06 confused with Harling's Silver Z06 tanker which Terry has for sale now, not sure how he got that one.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top

Re: '67 L88 goes for $3.2 million
Guess I missed part of auction where they showed the new owner. Thought I saw them congratulating Terry (or was it the seller?) when the gavel went down. Who did buy the '67 L88? Anybody want to tell the rest of us "the rest of the story" on the car's history?- Top

Re: '67 L88 goes for $3.2 million
I don't know who it was. As I said, as I watched the auction live, there was a group of 4-5 people sitting in the front row. They had just bought Buddy's '70 LS6 Chevelle 'vert, and they are the ones who bought the '67 L88. The older man had his arm in a sling, he and his younger, tall, blonde female companion sitting next to him, seemed to be trading winks and nods as they bid it up and bought it. The blonde was seen talking to the bidder's assistant saying something right after the gavel went down, pointing to the car, and the one before, not sure what she said and of course have no idea who they are, that is still very secret it seems. Funny that hasn't surfaced someplace.Big Tanks In the High Mountains of New Mexico- Top
