Good catch Rob. I now see that the upper bar of the 5 is in the shadow of the threaded plug. However, this 5 is not the five typically seen on Tonwanda engines. The usual Tonawanda 5 is wider. However, I agree with your conclusion that a matter of this much importance to Don is worth a paid opinion.

Considering the information about the rear end and the the J-56 brakes, I would guess that this is a real L-72 car with the block restamped in a pretty good but not perfect manner. I hope Don gives us some feedback if he gets an opinion from Al Grenning or buys the car and takes the head off.

Yes after studying this pad some more I feel it is definitely worth getting an Al G paid opinion. I will proceed and will follow-up here when I have further info! Thanks all!

Attached are a couple of pictures of 65 and 67 VIN stamps I found on other posts to the TDB illustrating my concern about the 2 in the VIN stamp of the pad that Don is studying.

Thumbs up to Pat Boyd for his help and opinions on this, and to the others that responded as well. A big THANKS! I proceeded with a "paid opinion" and received a thumbs down. The search goes on!

Like Roy Sinor stated in another post, if Patrick gives an opinion, you can take it to the bank
