    Re: Rust preventive Magic (RPM)

I bought a can or the RPM late in the summer of 2012. It's applied to the bare metal with a brush. If warm enough the parts can be placed in the sun or warmed with a heat gun. Tried it on several parts (front spindle, steering kunckle, half shaft). They have been hanging in the garage since last August and there is no sign of surface rust or corrision. It gets pretty humid in VA. Since it needs to be applied with a brush, it best to apply when things are disasembled. Has a slight waxy feel but seems to work.

It is excellent for all bare metal parts and after you wipe off the excess you won't even know that it is on. Also, it does not attract dirt and dust. Pre - Lube also makes a product that can be used on parts like the exhaust where is a high tempature. The product is Pre-Lube 19. If you contact me I will be more than happy to point you in the right direction to purchase it. This particular product it is not available thru Quanta. Hope this helps.

            Hi Ron
I appreciate you offering the contact for the Pre-Lube 19, if I recall that was presented to me a few years ago directly from the manufacturer when I called them with questions on the pre-lube 6. I will PM you about it as well.
            Thank you
            Gary

Steven, I totally agree! Search previous posts, there are over half a dozen posts re: the Gibbs brand product. I have prepared sheet metal with the Gibbs product. It has been over a year and a half in high humidity Florida and no sign of rust, plus I have painted over it, as suggested by the manufacture. Hard to believe!
