Re: For Sale Poll - Stupid Question

    Guys,

Past proposals made to the Board; For Sale ads were ran for sity days. Access to NCRS Members only for the first thirty days. Non-members could view the ads, but not the contact information. Second thirty days the ads were open to the Public.

    Two goals:
    1) attract new members during the first thirty days if they saw a part/car they just had to have
    2) attract a wider range of vendor advertisers with the last thirty days being open to a larger public audience

Re: For Sale Poll - Stupid Question

A lot of you are missing the point. NCRS is not all inclusive of everything that all Corvette owners want. It is focused on restoration of older Corvettes to a specific "original" standard. Yes, there are other aspects and even social parts to NCRS but those are through different sources than the TDB. The focus of the TDB is this restoration and it attracts a limited group of people. Most of the people here are either restoring a Corvette, interested in restoring a Corvette, or providing knowledge to people restoring Corvettes. Others are just interested, but they don't seem to comment very much or stay very long. It is wrong to think that a "For Sale" section would be only for the users of the TDB. There are a lot of parts collectors, investors, and hobbiests that could care less about the TDB, but are very interested in parts and cars and their availability. All of these threads have had many interesting statistics, but they're all wrong because they've missed a large number of potential users for a "For Sale" section. As others have said, the TDB and any "For Sale" section should be separated, and the justification of a "For Sale" section should have little to do with the TDB and it's users. A better guage for the potential usage of any NCRS "For Sale" section would be the number of people that use CF's for sale section, as well as e-bay.

In the last two days I did two listings on the CF Parts For Sale/Wanted Forum. Sold them both within a day. It worked for me and the buyer.
