For Sale Poll - Stupid Question

The Sticky had over 2,282 views with only 271 votes cast. Is it that a lot of folks have no opinion or is it us who voted? Have we been going back to the sticky to view the results and are driving the Viewed numbers up? The other non-authorized thread had over 5,400 views.

    Jack,

I can't speak for the rest of the viewers, but I voted once the first time I viewed it. I viewed it a bunch more times after that, when others replied to the thread.

Ditto, the "views" are not equal to individuals.

I too voted; then have returned several times to view the results. Frankly, I am surprised that more individuals have not voted.

The simple answer is that one can vote only once. How do I know? I am from Chicago. I vote early and often, but was not allowed to in this case. Yes, I am not ashamed to say I tried.

I too visited, and posted more than once -- often visiting more than once in a day as new posts were made.

I am not surprised that the numbers voting are between 200 and 300. That is the number of frequent, with maybe some infrequent, posters here. No harm or foul guys and gals. It is what it is.

On another point in this matter.
A great issue came up last night at our meeting. Where would all the lost revenue come from that is now coming in from advertising in the Drive Live. This is a huge issue to some I am sure.

                Jack

I for one did not see the "vote" poll the first couple of times I visited the thread. It's not often we get to decide things on this board by a vote. So I am assuming I'm not the only one who missed it. Then again maybe I am.

Why would you loose revenue? The online solution could exist parallel to the existing Driveline...

Jack, I'm curious. What do you mean by non-authorized thread?

                    Thanks.

Ken. Bad choice of words on my part. Your thread was the one I was referring to. I meant to say" Not the Sticky Poll" but your general post.

The other end of the spectrum is that just how many of its members are regular visiters to the TDB.

Re: For Sale Poll - Stupid Question

Jack, thanks for the reply. I visited the sticky thread a number of times myself to see how the vote was going but like you say there have been only a little over 270 votes cast. While this has been a hot topic for the last week or so, if that's a count of all the members who regularly visit the TDB then I'm wondering if it makes sense to expend the effort even to put a business plan together for presentation to the BOD concerning a "For Sale" site.

I've got an idea. Since it appears that only about 2% of the membership uses the TDB regularly, maybe sombody with writing skills could write an article for the restorer about the benefits of using the TDB, as well as a primer on how to access and use it. If we get more members to use the TDB we could probably make a stronger case for a "For Sale" section on the Board.

                            Thanks.
