    C1 chassis blackout occurred at the end of the Chassis Line, after engine drop, just prior to Body Drop; any blackout on the front suspension components was pretty light, as Engineering didn't want any blackout or overspray on the engine.

    The front suspension crossmember, upper and lower control arms, and all of the steering linkage (including the third arm) was painted before it arrived at St. Louis as an assembly; the spindle supports (uprights), spindles and stabilizer bar were unpainted natural forged finish, and the brake drums were painted at Detroit Gear & Axle.
