WOW...How did they come up with a VIN plate?

And here all along I thought '65 was the first year for disk brakes...

Someone told me the dead Vietnam soldier (63 Chevy/Corvette) story just a few years ago, that legends has been around since the 1970's.

This one about the 67 almost seems like a variation of that, maybe a little more plausible.

I have actually in person, spoken to the father and seen a Blue 63 coupe owned by a Viet Nam soldier that didn't make it back. No kidding. This was over 35 years ago in NJ.

Oh...I'm sure there are too many stories like that unfortuantlly.

The one I'm talking about is the classified ad for a 1963 Chevy for $300. The buyer show up expecting to find an Impala or Bel-Air, turns out to be split window coupe owned that was owned by a fallen soldier. Out the goodness of his heart the buyer pays the soldier's parents $1000 for the car. There's a Country song that tells the story...Only its a 1966 roadster.

As a side note about Barn Finds, I've been trying to get this one out of my neighbor for over 30 years. Original owner, tons of docs, 400 horse convert, perfect paint and interior under an inch of dust. Someday...maybe.

              Roy,
Thanks for posting the video on the rare ZO6 62 Corvette.
I am amazed at the ignorance of the people making videos such as this one.
The interviewers knowledge was about 2 on a scale of 50. I think Floyd Garrett realized he was in trouble about half way through the interview.
The idea that GM shipped the car in separate boxes is fascinating to me, do you think the NCRS delivery data could confirm that???

                Bruce,
Did did the cars come with a VIN tag and a MSO?

GM offered the current generation Camaro as a body in white as of 2008, I'm not sure they still do. Far from a complete car though.

GM Performance Parts (GMPP) will be offering 'body in white' packages for the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro, with sales expected to begin in the first quarter of 2009. Body in white refers to the stage in automotive production when the car's sheet metal has been assembled, but components such as the interior and powertrain are yet to be installed. Used for racing...

GM is selling a COPO Camaro in 2013 (possibly 2012?).
It is not being sold as a street car, race only.

I assume you want that so you can help me obtain the car?

Confirm what???? There are a lot of assumptions in that video. If it has a VIN and if it is after 6600 in 1962 I suspect we could confirm its actual production date, and if it has any real GM paper along with that VIN we might be able to validate that also. Of course I doubt any of that will confirm any of the story.

Most of the linked images appear to be broken, it's too bad. I would have liked to see them. You couldn't get close enough at Bloomington to really see any detail.

After messing with the link a little bit, I finally got some of the pictures to download. This car has waaaaay more than 2900 miles on it.

Pat: There is a '65 Nassau blue convertible in a garage here in Michigan. The story from the original owner goes a bit like the one here (about the white '67 coupe). There are a number of skeptics, including me.
