Great idea to have a for sale section! I would suggest a format similar to E-bay to offset the cost. A small listing fee and a set percentage the seller pays when the item is sold. Works for e-bay and should work for the NCRS. In addition I think it would draw new members to the NCRS website as this service would be of benefit to thousands of Corvette owners.

Yes...it will be more current than the items in Driveline, instead of waiting month to month.

I presented the orphan idea to NCRS officers in about 1995 or so and was told "good idea" and then asked if I wanted to run it. I was hoping NCRS would dedicate a couple pages of the Driveline to listing orphaned parts, docs etc. instead of it being spread out all through the Driveline. Plus, a condensed listing by year/serial number would encourage more people to list what they have in their possession. I have seen the reuniting of a couple motors from the lists some of my friends have shared with each other. You talk about happy owners! I am also glad to hear this is on the table because my son, who is a programmer, and I have been working on a special web site for this. We even have a web name purchased. As far as I am concerned, this is one of the greatest contributions to our hobby that NCRS can do. Let's get the orphaned stuff reunited in our lifetime.....before our kids inherit it and toss it in the trash or make a deposit to the junk yard for boat anchor manufacturing.
At my age, I love to share, and Gary you are so correct. I have an office full of books, magazines, Corvette News etc. I use for research for the RACE CAR REGISTRY. And yes, I know where many ''bones'' are burried in the Corvette world. GOOGLE has shown us the way to search, and NCRS needs to get into this 21st Century of helping the membership. Years ago, JOHN AMGWERT said we are in the 'Publishing Business', and we see today what has happened to newspapers and books.

People today come to us and ask us to tell them in 20 minutes or less, 40 years of Corvette history. I think the RESTORER / DRIVELINE make great bathroom reading. When else do we have time to read an old fashion magazine? For years we have all bitched how the DRIVELINE add, which is 3 months old once received via mail, never is delivered to each member in a timely manner. I have friends cross town that get their DRIVELINE two weeks BEFORE........and two weeks AFTER I get my copy. Cars and parts are often sold months before thank you CRAIGS LIST, CARS-ON-LINE and other internet sites.

$20 a year access= $340,000 if we have 17,000 members. I am sure the bean counters can find a way.

I can not imagine how this would benefit the membership, the hobby in general, and the cars.
                It should be done indeed.

I meant to say. I can not imagine how this would not benefit the membership, etc. etc.

Re: POLL: would you like to see a for sale section on the forum?

Yes, because the biggest problem I have found over the years is that by the time the driveline arrives in my state of Indiana, the majority of things I'm interested in have already been gone for days. At least this would give more people a fair opportunity if everybody see's them in a timely matter.

Guys, I've seen numerous posts on this thread over the past week, however, the tally on the vote hasn't moved in step. Is everyone that's posting voting too? Hope so. We need the votes to present to the BoD in March.

the poll had a set end date of February 14th. That is when it closed. Even if still open, I think the figure would still be around 90% for and 10% against. So, the results are in. 9 out of ten want it. It that holds in the BOD meeting, you might see something happen. If not, then you probably won't.

yes it would be great if there was a forsale and wanted for each generation.
