would it be legal for your racing ?? the only guy i know that is still alive that worked on the grand sport engines is ron mccafferty who ran the dyno lab at gulf and he is in calif some place.

I'm willing to argue the point. it's ridiculous to pull the race-car thousands of miles and get 1/2 a lap in a the cable breaks! I haven't talked to anyone who has an idea how to fix this problem. Apparently Gulf gave up on the cable also.

i think you should try and convince them you should use a 600 CFM holley carb with the center pivot float bowls.

Sho' had a very narrow power band, and dropped like a rock at 6,200 rpm's.

i think it might have been a 370 inch motor and i don't think the FI even with dual air meters had enought air for that size engine.

Quite a few drag racers in the late '60s early '70s experimented with modifying FI units because of their desirable "ram" effect. One that I raced with, Ralph Ridgeway, was one of the more successful to do so. He developed the "Ridge Runner" which was made in Rockville CT.

Mike, after enlarging the photo the car looks like Milano Maroon with a white nose and two gold or yellow stripes. Steve

This is the Gulf Oil unit that John Eyestone had for sale some years back.

                            And on a Cheetah.

Modified thumb tack valve for a dual air meter unit.

Early unit with dual side mount air meters (many of you know this unit).

Back in the early 60's there was a speed shop "Dyno Tune By Deb" in Springfield, MA that modified a Corvette F I manifold to use with a carburator and got very good results. There was big article in the local paper about it.

Tom. Do you know the source of the drawing (thumbtack)that you included. Do you know the intent of this modification? Jerry
