Re: 2012 NCRS International Road Tour
For the Road Tour group that was entering Bryce Canyon National Park this afternoon (Wed.) the Blue Z-06 you saw leaving was none other than Jimmy Gregg and Richard Vaughan.
Scott Sinclair - If you read this remind me when, where, and what the last night ot festivities are as RV and I plan to be there.
Now for a technical question --- Twice today I smelled a odor of gas outside the Z-06 but saw no leaks (either in the engine bay or underneath). Tightened the gas cap and still happened later at Zion park. Anyone had an issue with this with the new cars??Founder - Carolinas Chapter NCRS- Top

Re: 2012 NCRS International Road Tour
The California Road Tour (see second photo) is at Cambria and leaving for lunch in Malibu. First and third photos below are from June 27th trip from Half Moon Bay to Cambria. The third photo is typical of the scenery and the 1930s CCC road construction. Last night we had a fine dining experience thanks to Bruce Fosdike and his tri-tips. Yum yum. Great people and great cars and great scenery and great weather -- you can't beat it.

Re: 2012 NCRS International Road Tour
High temp today was 74 in downtown San Francisco. Most of the way along the Northern California coast it was 60-64. No A/c needed and we rolled down the windows. I saw one convertible owner (not Corvette) begin to lower his top, and thought better of it in mid-operation and put it back up.
The road today reminded me of why I wanted to do this trip in a Corvette big block. Love those hairpin turns that are posted at 15 or 20 mph.
People in California are just different is such a good way. The toll taker at the Golden Gate Bridge looked at the car and said "Z06." I said "yes sir." He said "This is your chance. You can do a burn out from here for as far as you want." A lot of car culture here.
Crossing the Golden Gate, and 101 in San Fransisco on the way to meet the California Road Tour. A short time later we had a great time at Sam's Crab Shack.

I came to California in 1964. I have loved this state for the same reasons you are enjoying today and this week. It is a shame however, our goverment does not care. Enjoy the beauty today, as I feel the toll road will go up tomorrow. Our car culture lifestyle is drastically changing, thank you Uncle Sam. See you in San Diego.Over 80 Corvettes of fun ! Re: 2012 NCRS International Road Tour
Jim,
I can understand your sentiments, but for me this is a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live here. Maybe you got the best of it in the 60s & 70s.
Today we went (just Zoe & I) from lunch in Malibu with the Cal Road Tour folks to Venice to see the beach. These midwestern hicks were taken aback, to say the least.
Fron Venice on to the Getty by the 405 -- the one on the hill. We drove I10, Wilshire, & Supelvida. We very narrowly avoided the 405, but the view of it from the Getty was spectacular. Overnighting in Calbassas and then on to the the Last Night Out tomorrow. We set the Nav system to avoid Interstates so we drove from the Getty via Supelvida and Mulholland and a few other spectacular streets. On one downhill run the car was in second at 3500 rpm for about three blocks with no foot feed. That LS6 sounds just outstanding with the exhaust open (over 3000 rpm) and the foot feed off. I don't suppose the residents thought too much of my anticks, but oh well, this is a car town.
C U soon

Some photos of the California Tour from Cambria to Malibu on June 28 th
The parked cars are at the Lunch stop at Sunset Blvd and Pacific Coast Highway -- Gladstones. Dining with a view of dolphins and pelicans. BTW: The restaurant manager gave Zoe and I some great tips on where to go for tourist things in LA. Nice friendly helpful folks here.
Last shot is Zoe at the Getty with LA in the background.
