Re: Comments on this pad VIN stamping please

When I've run into that in the past, I tried to remember my job was to inform the person who hired me, not to pick a fight with the owner. Generally limited my comments to nice car, looks sharp and the like.

I lost a very good friend about twenty years ago because of an inspection. A good friend had a '67 400 hp AC convertible, red/red and wanted to sell it. I was commissioned by a potential buyer from the West Coast to inspect/appraise the car. Long story short car had a bogus trim tag, restamped engine, epoxy casting date on the block, and probably added AC. I included all this info in my report/appraisal. Seller got mad, even though he bought the car restored and had done nothing but wax it. Has not spoken to me since about 1990 or so.
Reminds me of telling a potential client that I think they don't have a case (yes it happens, and more often than people think). It never goes over well. Thankfully, I've never lost a friend because of it, knock on wood.

          Don,
Be careful, not even close to original.
