    oil analysis questions

    I had a oil analysis done from my sour engine in my Chevelle. I got the results back and was looking to see if the were was any fuel in the oil. for the results it came back as a 5. it was done by ALS Laboratory Group.

    The best answer should be from the lab that did the tests.

      Post the results. Fuel dilution can be expressed in several ways

          I am guessing 5% which indicates to me that either the car is running rich or it is not being run enough at a time to get the choke open.

          Search for oil sample and see the samples that I posted a month or so back.

            the engine builder who assembled my engine and disassembled after the failure said the cause of the failure was fuel wash. so would this analysis back up his claim?

              Fuel wash will definitely screw up the world. Scored cylinder walls, bearings, etc. It is possible that you have a fuel pump diaphragm with a small pin hole in it.

                I will say the fuel pump was band new two years ago. maybe I got a bad one. thanks for all your help.

                  Keith, if the pump was NOS or NORS, it is possible that it is not compatible with ethanol fuels, which have propensity for attacking rubber.
