Can anyone give me the correct GM part number for a 1967 Choke Coil on a 327 300 HP?

Re: 1967 Choke Coil Part Number
The part number for the "Auto Choke Asm." in the AIM is 3893243 (UPC 6-C2, Item 10), but I didn't find that part number listed in my old P&A books.
My '67 has the L79 engine, I don't know for sure whether the same Auto Choke Asm. was used on 300hp and 350hp engines (UPC L79-A1 & A2 do not mention a different Auto Choke Asm.). I checked the actual coil on mine, it is stamped "7149" on the flat part of the coil.- Top

Re: 1967 Choke Coil Part Number
Gary,
My 1967 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (April 1967) lists the following (Automatic Choke Control Thermostat Asm.) in Gr. 3.750:
66 PASS., CORVETTE w/Sp./H/Per. (327,427)
67 CORVETTE w/H/Per. (427).........................................GM # 3887148
65-66 PASS., CORVETTE (396, 427)(exc. Sp./H/Per.).......GM # 3869926
Nothing for 66 or 67 Corvette w/base engine.
HOWEVER, My 1967 Chevrolet Parts Catalog (July 1967)
lists GM # 3887148 for "67 CORVETTE" (all models, I assume) instead of "67 CORVETTE w/H/Per. (427)".
My Nov. 1981 Corvette Parts Catalog lists GM # 3887148 for "67 Y" (all 1967 Corvette models).

PRODUCTION and SERVICE part numbers for choke thermostats are different. That's because the PRODUCTION piece was supplied as a complete assembly with coil, cover, and rod. In SERVICE, the parts were only available separately. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1967 Choke Coil Part Number
GM #3887148 is GM-discontinued. However, reproductions are available in the Corvette marketplace from vendors like Dr. Rebuild.
Caution: I believe the last manufacturer of these choke coil thermostats was Standard Motor Products, and I don't think they manufacture them anymore. I expect that all the Corvette vendors obtain their stock directly or indirectly from Standard Motor Products. So, just how much longer these things will be available is anyone's guess. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

You can still get the cover from GM, but that's it.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: 1967 Choke Coil Part Number
Does the 3887148 Coil have "7149" stamped into the spring-coil itself (as some parts have a final/finished part number one digit different from the component part numbers), or do I have the wrong choke coil for a '67 SB?- Top

Re: 1967 Choke Coil Part Number
That listing says "NOTE: Do NOT confuse the carb. choke rod with the auto. choke rod!"
I see that same rod on my Holley Carb, but I thought we were talking about the component parts of the Auto Choke Asm.?
What is the correct original GM part number for the '67 SB Auto Choke Rod?- Top

Re: 1967 Choke Coil Part Number
Gary, Scott, all
After I took a second look today, when my eyes were fresh, I believe that I made an error as to the part number 3881440 being the auto choke rod. That number is incorrect.
While the thermostat is the same for base 300HP and SPHP350, the choke rod is not. The correct number for the 300HP motor is #3881866. This number was available until 1972 /73 or a bit beyond: cannot determine history after that, most likely discontinued. The correct number for 350HP (L79) is #3881888 which was replaced by #3917616 in 7 /68. This number appears to have been good for several more years.
