Re: AC fuel pump date code research data

    Dave,

I have a 67 327/350 that was built in Feb 67 and the AC fuel pump has
"AG40433" stamped on the flange. This would make it built in January of 1967???

I would guess it is an original pump. Hope this helps

    Jerry

      Jerry,

I would say that your "AG40433" fuel pump dated January 1967 is the original pump in your Feb. 1967 car.

Re: AC fuel pump date code research data

        Dave,

I wanted this fuel pump to be rebuilt and I checked with Athur Gould Restorations. They said these type pumps cannot be rebulit as they are the "crimp" style.

Yet, Long Island Corvette is offering 40433 "original rebuilts". Can you tell me which response is accurate?

        Thanks,

        Jerry

          Jerry -

They may get them from Paul Baker (Goat Hill); I think he rebuilds the crimped pumps. Ask LICS.

            Jerry,

I know nothing about rebuilding the crimped type fuel pumps. I believe that I have read on the the NCRS forum that Goat Hill rebuilds this type of pump. Other NCRS members may know more.

Another pump to affirm David's theory:
One-owner 70 with 62k miles has correct 40769 pump, with BJ prefix. That works out to February 1970 in his theory, and the car is a mid-March 1970 build date.
                Good job, David!

Re: AC fuel pump date code research data

                  Mike,

I am 100% convinced that my fuel pump date code theory is correct. Several years ago I approached a Corvette vender from California at the Fall (or maybe Spring) Carlisle, PA, swap meet (in one of the large buildings) who dealt with vintage Corvette fuel pumps to discuss my date code theory and was told there was no such thing. I can understand why he wanted nothing to do with date codes as it would restrict the sale of his fuel pumps with the extra date code letters adjacent to the stamped AC part number.

                  Thanks for the data.

                  Dave

David, I agree great work, and it can be noted that the seller recently had a second design housing with great late 66 date code in a 1st design lower portion.

                      Ron,

To what seller and what pump are you referring?

Dave, there is only one company rebuilding these.

Is it a company in California?

I just got a late '66 date coded (as I needed) 40482 for my L71 from Paul, rebuilt crimped pump. Beautiful job he did. But communication from him is not the best, be patient...

                                Ron,

The fuel pump in the Ebay auction has a housing that is stamped "DE 40366" ("DE" = April 1965) which would be the 1st design. The inlet tube with the "square block" would be 2nd design. This was the seller at Carlisle that does not recognize stamped fuel pump date codes.
