    Neal,

The 1966 Corvette AIM lists # 5594657 (aka "4657") as the fuel pump on UPC, sheet C1. The revision box indicates that the fuel pump was 6440433 (aka "40433") theoretically before 3-28-66. Who know when the actual change was made on the assembly line.

In my opinion the "DF 40433" pump is dated April 1966.

The "23SK40658" stamping seems unusual. Could it possibly be "235K40658"?

Your rebuildable pump with the "40658" tag was obviously rebuilt by a company using parts from various AC pumps. Does this pump have any "AC" castingc? Is there any casting numbers on the back side (on the surface that mounts on the block)? Is there a stamping on the edge of the flange? Photos are always helpful.

Pics from my 427/390 4 speed with AC. July 69 car. Appears to read 122H40659.

        Is this a rebuildable pump?

Gary, The pump looks like very nice core. Does it really need to be rebuilt?

Thank you for your information. In your opinion would the DF 40443 pump dated April 1967 be correct for my Sept 1966 built L79?
            Thanks

              Dave,
Correction. I meant pump dated April 1966 not April 1967. My apologies

                  Neal,

It's very possible that an April 1966 pump would be correct for a Sept. 1966 car. I'm sure the AC company did not "rotate the stock" like supermarkets do (or at least they did many years ago).

                    Gary,

I would say a "122H40659" AC pump would be dated the 122nd day of 1968 but that is just my opinion.

Re: AC fuel pump date code research data

Is it possible that it is original to my car or not so likely.

My car was off the road from 86 until 2011.

Was the pump on the car for 390 horse when the engine orange was applied? You can still see it on the pump.

                          Gary,
The mechanical fuel pumps for all so equipped Corvettes were installed at St. Louis (or Flint for the 1953s) and those vehicle Assembly plants had no engine paint. I would guess someone 'touched up' your engine prior to your purchase.

BTW: one can identify those parts installed at the vehicle Assembly Plant by their part number inclusion in the relevant AIM. No part number in the AIM and the part was installed someplace else and delivered as a part of an assembly to the Assembly plant.

Would the DF 40433 pump be rebuildable to original condition and specifications as the eBay seller represents?

                              Dave,
AC fuel pump # 2?2J40770 (second number is illegible) is off my 1971 LS5 Corvette which was built January 11, 1971. I've attached a picture, just hope it's large enough to see.

The second digit appears to be a "2" based on your photo. If so, a "222J40770" pump would be dated the 222nd day of 1970 or August 10, 1970. I would say that your fuel pump is the original from your Jan. 11, 1971 Corvette.
