I'll say "those are nice." I could go for those if they are wide enough for the C6 Z.

      Hey Chuck- hope you're well!

      I looked at this page

which shows that they don't quite reach vertical or go over center. I presume that this is deliberate as their would be no easy way of lowering or retracting the ram. the Instead, there's a locking plate that prevents inadvertent retraction of the piston.

        Hi'ya Mike. I'm well, thanks.

I watched the video this time. I don't know why I thought the hydraulics were powered (not for $300 anyway). I began wondering if it was going to take the guy the entire 3' 49" to pump up the ramps (clinka-clinka-clinka).

I thought it was going over center because it has to mechanically lock to be safe...relying on hydraulics is a bad idea. He's actually engaging a mechanical lock on each ramp to prevent the ram from moving (as you said), then appropriately depressuring the hydraulics.

If anybody comes up with a supply house/distributor State side for these or similar please pass the info on.

I think they are more like $450. though.

Hopefully we can find someone in the USA or maybe Canada.

          Thanks

Right now, the closest thing I can find online is currently sold out. I don't know if there was a problem, if they were totally discontinued or just waiting for a new shipment...perhaps someone can call tomorrow and post some feedback.

A price of $249.99 was listed HERE

Glad you were at least able to find them in the US.

I have used normal ramps for years and these hydraulic ramps have proven to be the best and safest way to get my cars up to work on it.

Have had them now for about a year and they have been great..

I have the two piece as well and really like the option to remove the trailing piece once the vehicle is up and stable. I use it for both a C3 and C5. Picked em up at Carlisle where they offer a "show" deal plus no shipping. I think it ended up $200.00 total cost. I also picked up one of their wheel chocks.

Tom, You got an extremely good deal.

I also have both a C3 & C5 as you do. I am somewhat concerned that the C5 with its low ground clearance (air dam) that I would need the Race Ramp extenders in addition to the 2-piece 67" ramps.

Race Ramps literature seems to indicate I would have a problem with just the 67" 2-piece unit. http://www.raceramps.com/2-piece-67-...ace-ramps.aspx . Their test procedure is toward the bottom of the page.

                    Your comments would be helpful.

                    Thanks

                        Re: Tire ramps

I just talked with two representative from Northern Tool and was told they are no longer supplying this item. I was able to get from them the ramps are manufactured in and imported from China.
Northern claims their supplier is sold out and they will not be restocking them.

To bad. It is a neat item.

Tom, the more I got to thinking about ramps for my C3 & C5 to do minor repairs and change the oil. I realized the crank case drain plug is in the front of the C5's pan. With the car on the ramps and therefore the front end elevated; how do you drain all 6 quarts of engine oil? I realize 80 to 85% of the oil will drain, but what about the other 15 to 20% of the oil left in the pan?

Or am I probably missing something?

That could very well be a problem with C5's. However, it's definitely not a problem with C-2, C-3, and most C-4. In fact, for those cars having them on ramps IMPROVES the ability to get all the oil drained out.

I agree. I was not even thinking about the C3 other-than it was part of my initial inquiry. I guess I could back the C5 on the ramps, but then I might not get the front end ground clearance and also the difficulty of backing on to the ramps

Setting this all aside you are apparently happy with the "Race Ramp" ramps?
