Strange strange story, but I don't think it is entirely a fabrication.

The ebay seller, jmautowreckers is real, it is in Rancho Cordova CA, and more interesting - the phone number listed in the ebay ad shows up in several Sacremento Craigs List ads, selling a variety of auto parts and junk.

    Here is but one example:

he tried to sell a Deloreon on ebay.. 250690544019

I don't think our corvette guy Dave created JMautowreckers
If I really cared, I would call Jim and ask him.

I'm sure the salvage business is legit, but anyone could snag enough from Craigslist to include the information on a bogus eBay ad.

If my reputation was being challenged as is Dave #1, I'd get some hard evidence out there to salvage my integrity.

Interesting enough, it was just pointed out to me that the CF op lists his occupation as in the auto salvage buisness. Thats cool, I bet he even owns the rollback in the pictures.

CF just closed the thread. I guess we may never know THE REST OV THE STORY. PAUL where are you. As a side bar the moderator is going to deal with those that were repeatedely warned & were on double secret probation which I think includes me, about non constructive posts. So I guess ths show is over. It was a good read if you ever had trouble trying to buy a Corvette from a flakey seller.

Bummer...That is one of the problems with today's society. Critical thinking is considered "too confrontational" We are just supposed to buy whatever is being sold. I'd love to believe the story, but I just couldn't without something concrete to base a descision on.

To put all of this in context here on the TDB, we would expect a NCRS judge to focus on the evidence rather than the creativity of the story teller.

Here's the buyer's description of how this all happened.

The seller was telling the truth. The car was sold twice somehow.
I talked with the other buyer and here's how it went down.

The car was on ebay less than an hour . I called talked with the seller. He answered all my questions and I hung up the phone thought about it a few minutes and pressed the buy it now.

While I was thinking the second buyer was talking to the seller about the car and came to an agreement to purchase the car. They exchanged info. as did I thru ebay.

Now here's the confusing part. His name is Dave, My name is Dave,
He lives in Rochester NY, I live in Rochester NY. His phone # is only a few digits off from mine.

Now I wired a deposit on Friday. He also wired a deposit on Friday. Monday I wired the balance, Monday he also wired the Balance.

Tuesday I called to make sure the seller got my money he confirmed and asked me for my address so he could send me the title. Tuesday the other buyer asked if the title was sent the seller said yes again thinking he was taking to me.

Now my trucker was suppose to pick up the car on Wednesday but couldn't do it till Monday. His trucker got there Friday to pick up the Corvette going to Rochester NY. The seller released it.

Now I have the title he has the car.

I went to my local sheriffs office showed him my ebay receipt , my wire transfer receipt's, The title filled out in my name. and we went to the second buyers house.

The second buyer shows the sheriff his receipts and they call the seller and the seller is so dam confused he tells them that he must have sent me the title by accident.

Sheriff tells me to get a lawyer there's nothing they can do for me.

On the way home I call the second buyer and say what are we going to do. you've got the car Ive got a signed title in my name.

We talked for about an hour about how screwed up this was and what were the chances that a car for sale in California that was only listed for sale for less than an hour could be sold to 2 guys named Dave that live in Rochester NY.

Were going to meet on Friday and flip a coin to see who gets the car.

Ill let you know what happens .

When you here someone say its a small world believe them

                Paul,

Yea I know.....it was pretty late when I made this up for Ken. After I wrote it I said 'yikes' this looks like one of my test procedures I used to write in my past electronics engineering career! They had to be very detailed and step by step. Some habits never die. I used to get awards for the longest documentation!

I never knew you could right click it to highlight. Mike Ward told me the same thing when I posted it on the HELP forum here. All those years you get in a habit of doing something, you know. You just have to remember to 'not' left click in the field first, just bring the cursor to the text and R-click it. I guess that's why I never knew it.

                Thanks for the good catch,
                Rich

                  Rich;

I only wish I could be that detailed in my disassembly notes.
