    Thank you Joe.

I just didn't have the strength to plow through 17 pages of mostly you-should-have-done-this or if-it-was-up-to-me posts to get the story

Ken, here's a procedure of the process.....Kinda' detailed so you should be able to follow it and be successful. Try it in the TEST FORUM section of the Home page.

1- Bring up the page with what you want to link, i.e. TDB thread, Ebay listing, CF thread, etc.

2- In the bar up top in your browser, it will have the full URL of the page. For example this thread is this URL:

      https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthread.php?t=82444

3- Put your cursor in the bar and quickly click 3 times. This will "highlight" the URL, typically turning all of it the color blue.

4- On the keyboard, hold the CTRL key down, and while it's down hit the letter "c". This copies that "blue" string of text into a storage buffer.

5- Now go to your window that you type your post into.

6- In your text, type something to call your link. Like the word "THIS".

7- Now put your cursor left of the letter "T", hold the left button of the mouse there and drag to the right until all 4 letters, THIS are blue.

8- Above the post in the gray bar are all those symbols. Click on the blue globe with the eyglasses, this is the "LINK" function. It'll open a mini window. Don't worry about the blue http:// text in there, it'll get overwritten in the next step.

9 - On the keyboard, hold the CTRL key down, and while it's down hit the letter "v". This pastes that "blue" string of text for the long URL into the field.

      10- Click "DONE".

11- The word "THIS" in your post will now be blue and it will be the link to the webpage for all to Click on and View. It won't work until you Preview or Submit it. I usually Preview and click the link I made to make sure I didn't screw it up before I Submit. It should open in a new window or tab.

      Rich
edit.....If you just want to put the actual full URL link in your post without creating a blue "word" to hold it, skip steps 6 & 7 and continue to step 8. Just make sure you place your cursor in the right place in your post where you want the link string of text to be. I usually hit a few "Enter" keys so it starts at a clean line. Also note at the bottom of your post entry box, there is a button stating "Automatically Parse Links....". Click this button on and when you submit the post it will abbreviate the link. This is handy on very long link URLs so it doesn't take up lots of space in the post.

      GOOD GRIEF!

Ken, follow Rich's steps 1 & 2. Put your cursor on the URL and right click ONCE (right side button on your mouse). Hit "Copy". Go to your post, right click again and hit "Paste". You're done!

If you open another window for the CF post you can go back and forth between your post and the CF link, making the inclusion of the link seamless.

Did anyone notice that the salvage yard in California had NO previous sales or feedback on Ebay? I would never have done business with an unproven newby, let alone send them 25 grand without going there myself.

Bob, this is just another aspect that chips away at the credibitly to the whole story.

              Consider this possibility...

              1) Dude already has the car stashed safely away in his garage.

              2) Dude creates an ebay user name for the alleged "seller"

              3) Dude lists the car using the newly fabricated "seller" ID and punches the buy it now button using his regular ebay user name.

              4) Dude fabricated this whole story and adds to the plot line day by day.

              5) The whole Corvette community waits with baited breath for the final outcome and the Dude becomes an internet legend with pending book and movies deals...(yea right )

I'm not buying in until some legitimate evidence begins to surface to back up the whole story.

Yeah, I didn't really want to read 17 pages of mostly pontification either. So I mainly just read what the original poster (OP) put on there. Here's my summary.

A 67 small block car that was born a big block was sold on ebay for $25,000 by a salvage yard in California to two guys named Dave in Rochester, NY. I'll call the OP Dave1 since I don't know last names. Anyhow, Dave1 bought the car on ebay. The seller sent the title to Dave1. Dave1 hired a truck to pick his car up. When the truck driver showed up, he was told the car had already been picked up. The car was delivered to Dave2, who lives only about five miles from Dave1. Dave1 goes to see the car and his lawyer. The lawyers work out a deal. The seller refunds Dave2's money to Dave1. Dave1 takes the money to Dave2. Dave1 winds up with the car.

Part two was posted by Ken here recently about how the original 427 / 400 engine is available. Dave1 is about to purchase it last I read.

Did I miss anything major? It is a very long and involved story. But it is a very good read if you have 10 minutes to spare.

ThanKs you got all the highlights. I couldn't buy the fact that the seller knew it was a BB 67 & that the guy he bought it from had the compleate 40/435 engine which would be worth15/20,000.00 alone. I kind of beleived his story before that.
PS Joe I am sorry that when Readers Digest closed you lost your writers job. LOL

Like Bob says No Feedback! Red flag! Three not so good pictures! Red Flag! Nothing listed in writing by the seller about the car! Red Flag! Did anyone of you notice the car is a four speed? The listing says it is an automatic. The 4 cyd for the engine size was a typo? Give me a break. The car is a small block with a big block stinger hood but this is not impossible as most of you know. What is funny, is now the sellers says he has the big block engine for the car, strange. I wonder if the pink matches up to the car shown in the pictures? I have seen and reported untrue listings to Ebay security and the listing are than removed. Most of these are buy it now with advance payment required before documents are exchanged. This buyer says he has the pink slip title but the car is gone! Strange is all I can think. What happen to the car? Was it stolen before the real buyer arranged for it to be picked up?
Thing to know; Ebay Motors is a flat fee listing auction for sellers with no commission. Most of the sellers are honest on Ebay and will give you as much information as they can about there car in order to complete a sale. Buyers get to know who you are buying from during the listing time before you place a bid. Insist on lots of close up pictures that show the car top to bottom; few pictures are a red flag. Read the information on the listing to be sure you know what you are bidding on. Make sure the seller will accept a Pay Pal deposit because if you win the auction Pay Pal will insure your purchase according to what the seller has stated in the listing. Most sellers want the remainder in cash or clear check because of Pay Pal fees before the title papers are exchanged. If in doubt inspect the car your self after you win the auction or before if you think you will win the auction but be prepared to be disappointed if you lose out to another bidder. The Pay Pal deposit will hold the car for the time period the seller has stated in the listing. Most sellers will allow several days to complete the sale with a Pay Pal deposit of $500. No honest seller wants a unhappy buyer because most are car guys like you who enjoy the hobby.
