A Must Read For Anyone Buying A Vet On Ebay

I am sure some here have but on CF there is a thread about a guy that bought a Corvette on EBAY. EBAY did nothing wrong & were helpfull but it is better than any reality show on TV. It may show someone what to do & not to do make sure that you get the Corvette without the hassle Dave #1 went through. I feel bad for Dave # 2 also. It's a good read.

          Here
in the For Sale Section. Unbelievable at first, but turned out very true. The car in question is This One.

They need to make a movie of it.

Sorry everyone I think I was suckered on this. Now the guy posts that the guy he bought it from who is a dealer/salvage yard owner bought it from the original owner who has the original 427/440 engine & was going to restore it but didn't buy the motor. He posts that now he is going to buy it & it has carbs to pan. What luck. Sorry now I am not buying it. It was a good read though.

Ken, here's a procedure of the process.....Kinda' detailed so you should be able to follow it and be successful. Try it in the TEST FORUM section of the Home page.

1- Bring up the page with what you want to link, i.e. TDB thread, Ebay listing, CF thread, etc.

2- In the bar up top in your browser, it will have the full URL of the page. For example this thread is this URL:

                          https://www.forums.ncrs.org/showthread.php?t=82444

3- Put your cursor in the bar and quickly click 3 times. This will "highlight" the URL, typically turning all of it the color blue.

4- On the keyboard, hold the CTRL key down, and while it's down hit the letter "c". This copies that "blue" string of text into a storage buffer.

5- Now go to your window that you type your post into.

6- In your text, type something to call your link. Like the word "THIS".

7- Now put your cursor left of the letter "T", hold the left button of the mouse there and drag to the right until all 4 letters, THIS are blue.

8- Above the post in the gray bar are all those symbols. Click on the blue globe with the eyglasses, this is the "LINK" function. It'll open a mini window. Don't worry about the blue http:// text in there, it'll get overwritten in the next step.

9 - On the keyboard, hold the CTRL key down, and while it's down hit the letter "v". This pastes that "blue" string of text for the long URL into the field.

                          10- Click "DONE".

11- The word "THIS" in your post will now be blue and it will be the link to the webpage for all to Click on and View. It won't work until you Preview or Submit it. I usually Preview and click the link I made to make sure I didn't screw it up before I Submit. It should open in a new window or tab.

                          Rich
edit.....If you just want to put the actual full URL link in your post without creating a blue "word" to hold it, skip steps 6 & 7 and continue to step 8. Just make sure you place your cursor in the right place in your post where you want the link string of text to be. I usually hit a few "Enter" keys so it starts at a clean line. Also note at the bottom of your post entry box, there is a button stating "Automatically Parse Links....". Click this button on and when you submit the post it will abbreviate the link. This is handy on very long link URLs so it doesn't take up lots of space in the post.

                            Jim,

Yeah, I didn't really want to read 17 pages of mostly pontification either. So I mainly just read what the original poster (OP) put on there. Here's my summary.

A 67 small block car that was born a big block was sold on ebay for $25,000 by a salvage yard in California to two guys named Dave in Rochester, NY. I'll call the OP Dave1 since I don't know last names. Anyhow, Dave1 bought the car on ebay. The seller sent the title to Dave1. Dave1 hired a truck to pick his car up. When the truck driver showed up, he was told the car had already been picked up. The car was delivered to Dave2, who lives only about five miles from Dave1. Dave1 goes to see the car and his lawyer. The lawyers work out a deal. The seller refunds Dave2's money to Dave1. Dave1 takes the money to Dave2. Dave1 winds up with the car.

Part two was posted by Ken here recently about how the original 427 / 400 engine is available. Dave1 is about to purchase it last I read.

Did I miss anything major? It is a very long and involved story. But it is a very good read if you have 10 minutes to spare.

                            Joe

                              Ken,

The more I think about it, the more I think you are right. It sounds too much like a fairy tale to be true. Still a good yarn though! A friend of mine always says, "I never let the truth get in the way of a good story!"
