          Very unprofessional in my opinion.
Another annoying distraction they use is when a phone or internet bid is received they blow a aerosol powered horn.
Are these antics part of the "auction hype?"
A mistake in taking bids can leave an auctioneer out on a very thin limb. In auction law, every time a buyer bids and the auctioneer acknowledges acceptance of that bid, there is a contract created. If another bidder ups that bid and the auctioneer accepts it, the contract with the first bidder is null and void and the last bidder has a contract with the auctioneer. If the auctioneer outruns his money (very easy to do with fast and heated bidding) and acknowledges a bid he thought was there, he effectively has no money, and the backup bidder has no obligation. Auctions are governed by both the Uniform Commercial Code and Contract Law. Can get pretty complicated at times. Plus Ohio has one of the strictest auctioneer licensing law and very strict enforcement.

Tom, read your own paragraph. Does "retained by the engineering fleet" = Semon Knudsen? Two weeks ago, I was asked by a potential bidder to inquire about documentation; I sent an e-mail to Mecum asking for just that; I've received 3 e-mail resonses, with 0 attachments of copies. My bidder stayed home.

At the time, it was owned by Werner Meier of farmington Hills, MI. The program claims the car was retained by the engineering fleet until 1965. It was then sold to a GM employee. Several owners were documented in the future. All in the Michigan area. It was used for daily transportation !!! It was found in a Michigan garage by Corvette enthusiast Wally Abela. A resoration was started and abandoned by a former owner who couldn't finish the task. Werner Meier completed the restoration of the car in 1987. The brochure claims the highlight of Meier's ownership was taking the car to the Knudsen home to show Bunkie his old ride.

I'd say the car is real and is exacly what it is claimed to be. If anybody has info to indicate otherwise, I'd sure like to h

If you have a 92 Bloomington brochure, it is car #9 in the brochure.

No that was the convertible that went for $50,000. He had a '72 LT-1 coupe with A/C also. It was red too.

in the couple months since the mcdorman ncrs meet a tremendous job was done in repairing and detailing 150 cars. even bunkie knudsen's 63 corvette looked neglected at the time of the ncrs meet. this past weekend it looked magnificent. i don't think the cars that failed to start lost any value and the auction was certainly not delayed due to some mechanical problems with cars. one exception was the 67 corvette with the 427 and air. the dangling headliner, dingy engine compartment and caliber leaks took away from a car that when started still roared with authority.

Loren, I can't say who the driver of the car was through 1965. I only have the 92 special collection program that states pretty much word for word what I posted. It does mention the history of the car was well documented. At least at that time. I'd say Werner Meier and Wally Abela would be the ones to talk to if they are still around. I don't know either one of them personally.

Here is how the Knudsen car was described in 1992.

I wasn't there to see the cars in person, or know of the pedigree, but the 67 427 seemed like it was bought well at $60K.

Went for $43k. I didn't look it over real close, but it seemed like a decent driver. AIR was missing, gaps were about average. Paint was pretty decent best i could tell in the poor light.

Overall i thought it was a decent #2 car.
