The last time my orig. 67 windshield was judged was at the 2007 National, 3 points taken for delamination (small section pass side bottom) and chips (3). BTW this windshield also has a wiper mark and is sandblasted. This is also the biggest deduction in 6 judged events. 4 x 1 pt deduct 1 x 2 pt deduct.

One can see the "waves" in the glass left from polishing out deep scratches if one looks in the right way, but some might think the waves are preferable to the scratches. If one is dealing with a driver, a replacement windshild may not be a big issue anyway. As they say: YMMV.
I think the thread is about windshield glass........!

Yes, you are right -- and it is about NON-TINTED windshield glass and how it judges, and not about scratches or removing them. How DID we get here?

Please tell how you plan to remove your logo. What will you replace it with. Isn't the logo and date code the same as the original. Is there a deduction for a repo non tinted windshield that has not been discussed on this thread?

          Thanks,
          Terry

          Terry,
Since my logo seems to be on top of the glass and not impregnated into it, I plan on trying laquer thinner and other chemicals carefully to see if it comes off. May try some 0000 wool or 000 wool. I have been busy with work so I haven't had a chance to give it a try, but when I do I will post my results. If it comes off, I will go without a logo to Kissimmee next year. I will lose a few points for not having a logo (was told it would be less than a 5 point hit) and that's sure as heck a lot better than 18 point. I haven't seen or judged a non tinted repro windshield so I couldn't comment on them.
          Thanks
          ARA

Ara, you're welcome to try and remove the logo, but here's my opinion. I was told that the glass comes from overseas and the vendor acid etches the DATE stamp into it. I'm not sure if the logo gets the same treatment or not, it might. If it does, then reapplying that coating to the logo where the acid has etched it away it going to be tough.
