Great ride to Grand Canyon on old 66

Hi, just got in to Albuquerque,

Ride from Prescott 89 to 40 to Williams 64(66) to Grand Canyon, south rim on 64 to 89 to 40 to Albuquerque.

Best ride yet, cool temps, car purring, lots of pictures

I am back in saddle, thanks to all for their concern, just a little too much heat

Shower and dinner and I will be back with pictures , off to CO Springs tomorrow after Santa Fe

    Jack

It's nice and cool in Colorado, Jack. Be safe and enjoy yourself. You're in God's country now. I suggest the Rampart Range Rd from Colo. Springs to Denver or Woodland Park to Pine then 285 into town. Paul Young

        Thanks Bob Behlman

Bob and Joanie took very good care of me while I was in CA. Bob also has a few very special mid-years.

He is campaigning a 67 Roadster 427/390 4 speed and a 67 427/390 Powerglide Coupe for top NCRS honors.

I had to shoot the photos at his La Quinta house and unfortunately , I could not move them out of garage to photograph them.

        He also has a 63 swc 327/340 4 speed, 66 coupe 327/350 4 speed and 67 327/300 powerglide plus a few other cars

I didn't hear from you, so guess I missed you when you came through the Santa Fe/Pojoaque area. Just as well maybe, we had a huge rain on Wednesday that dumped lots of sand in our arroyo road. I pulled three cars out of the sand near our ranch, and until the county road grader comes to clear it out, my 'Vettes are stuck in the garage. Cheers.

            Paul,

I am in CO Springs tonight (Friday) with Tom Hoeppner. Ted Smathers and Fred Riehm who live in the Denver Area are coming down on Sat Morning to meet me at Colorado Springs Car Show, at Daniels / Long Chevy Dealer 670 Automotive Drive CO Springs.

I am not in show , we are meeting at 10 am in Front. If you can make it please give me a call 207 838 5695 cell. Once there give me a call to find me.

Sorry I can't head north , but my drive is getting a little long even for me.

            Jack

Hi Mike , I knew that I had a contact near Santa Fe. The member who was going to put me up canceled as I was on my way from Prescott AZ. I couldn't find your post on my Iphone and by 6 pm I was fried. I gave up and stayed at a Motel 6 in Albuquerque , and was about 100 miles north in the morning by the time I read this post.

Thanks for the offer and I did notice a bit of rain wash as I was driving. Lucky, I stayed an extra night in Prescott

Frank I will , but are you going to the Y like you promised?

Give Judy a break and put in internet, since the whole world knows that you go to Pannera Bakery to get free internet.

Re: The car is packed 48 states await

Talked with Jack about 1PM. He was in Colorado Springs. He plans on leaving the Springs and going to Pueblo and taking the blue highway east to Kansas. He was behind schedule and opted not to drive to Denver. He attended a car show at one of the dealers and met up with a couple of people at the show. Jack's I phone is functioning less than desireable after a soda bath and his computer did'nt download all his trip data so he is kind of like the lost lone ranger. For those that planned to hook up with him in Kansas and Oklahoma and Texas, I think that he posted his phone number and it might be a good way to connect. He needs a little R&R by the sound of it as he arrives in the afternoon and takes off again in the morning. I suggest a call to him to help him get connected.

                        Hi you all

I am in Edmond Oklahoma with Ray, and tomorrow with Tom Parsons in Mustang. On Tuesday I go to Mena Arkansas. I plan to leave Arkansas on Wed or Thursday to head to Texas

There are about 10 contacts in Texas and tomorrow I will have time to look at my route and I will call those who had wanted me to stop by.

It is late now and sleep is calling

The ride from Lakin KS to OK City was great. Sun at my back, tail wind, pedal to the metal all the way. Lots of feed lots, gas and oil wells.

No traffic and smooth road, I wish I had a late model at times, 120 mph would be fun.

Thanks to Tom Backman for hosting me in Lakin.

                        See you all soon

                        Jack

                          Re: Hi you all

Jack, you'll find gas pleasantly priced in Texas. It will make up for Ca. Az. and NM.

                            Texas swing

We have to figure stops along way that will allow me to stay over and still visit as many as possible, in some cases we can meet at a central location,

I don't want to travel more than 250 miles in a day so have a look and I will try to plan a route of the next day or so.

rayvaflav or better know as Ray

Spent a great night at Ray and Margo's house in Edmond OK.

Ray is as neat in person as on the forum. Has a nice 66 coupe. I had some free range beef while there, or it could have been something else.
