    C2 Hood Ledge Bump?

What is the story about the raised bump on the driver's side body hood gutter. This is the area in front of the vent grill. I have here there should a bump on all cars, did they indeed occur on both St Louis and A O Smith cars?

Most have been sanded off during restoration.

Here's a great picture of the bump on a 67, not my picture or car.

Here is one that has been stripped. I have never determined just what it was for, probably nothing. My best guess is that it is a hardness test of the mould. It is on all bodies even early 63s.

Think It Was Because Of A Flaw In The Mold For The Surround Panel . I Know This Was On St Louis Cars. Can't Remember For Sure On Ao Smith. ( Located In Front Of 13th Vent Grill Slot )

Thanks, I will continue to look for A.O. Smith cars. Mine does not have it but it is on the second coat so it could have bee sanded of in Georgia. Looks like there could be a residual trace if it were sanded off.

There wasn't one on my A. O. Smith '65 car before I restored it.

I looked at three original paint cars yesterday, 2 AOS and one STL body, all three had the bumps. I have never seen an original car that did not have one

John, if the bump was missing on any of the cars we restored, we added it back. It is not easy, but doable

Dick. Mine must have gotten sanded off along the way before I bought it 3 years ago.
