Offhand, I don't know what the percentage was that were manual transmission. However, there were several manual transmissions that were used over the 63-94 period and only the C4 manual transmissions were Corvette only.

Several different back-up switches were used over the 63-94 period.

      cigarette lighter housing?
      Richard------

Several different cigarette lighter housings were used over the 63-94 period. Most are functionally interchangeable but none are unique-to-Corvette. In fact, they were used pretty much across all GM car and truck lines.

The same screw was used for 1963-76 but not later. Plus, it was not a Corvette-unique piece.

I believe this was the ONLY unique-to-Corvette part that was used over such a long period. Now, I want to emphasize again this is a unique-to-Corvette part and not a part used for non-Corvette applications or a standard item like fasteners and things like valve stem cores.

Does anyone know what it is?

There were 4 different oil drain plug part numbers used over the 1963-1994 period and only 1 of them was Corvette-unique. That was the GM #10110927 used for 90-95 LT5 (ZR1).

The part in question is not related to the fiberglass body or any ground strap.

So.... I'm still focusing on the 69% or the Corvettes producted had this part clue. This tells me it was part of an option.............

If it is not that little thingy that connects to the friggment and improves the operation of the jankelbon used only in Corvettes, then I have no clue what it is!

It was part of certain options but it was also part of standard equipment.

If you're talking about the C2-C3 5 quart pan GM #3820000, that pan was only used from 1963 to 1974.

How about the rear differential housing or the cover gasket.

There were at least 2 different housings used over the 63-79 period. All 63-79 used the same cover gasket, though, and the housings and gaskets were Corvette-unique. However, 1979 was the last year that used either housing or gasket. 1980-82 used a completely different housing and gasket. 1984-94 used 2 different housings and gaskets, depending upon whether manual or automatic transmission.

There were actually several different "short" release bearings over the 1963-81 period. Some were 1-9/32", some 1-1/4", and some 1-7/16". They all became the 1-1/4" after the mid-70's, though. Early C4 also used a 1-1/4" bearing but it was different than that used earlier. Later C4 used another different bearing.

In any event, none of the C2-C3 bearings were unique-to-Corvette. At the moment, I'm not sure about the C4 bearings.
